I'll be leaving today to hunt a new location in Texas in which I'm really excited about. Dan Johnson and I will be hanging stands later this afternoon in the hopes of catching one of those dark-horned monster roaming a creek bottom. I'll be sure and give you a report on the trip next week, but until then, post a comment and let me know how your season is going.
From what I can tell, things are starting to get cranked up around in the deer woods. Georgia cooled off this weekend, and as everyone knows, the magical month of November is just around the corner.
And I can't wait.

I have seen a lot of bucks, a few good ones. they are starting to get all the corn down now so that should help things. My dad went out with me on sat mourning and hunted a tree line I just recently got permision for us to hunt and at 7:35 he arrowed the best buck of his life, and it was his birthday. He said it was big but wasent sure how big, said it was about 20" wide. But when we found it niether of us could believe just how big it was. Its a main frame 9 pt with 13 scorable points, A 24-3/4" spread and grosses out at 162 2/8. my jaw was on the floor, that is a great buck anywhere but getting it in our home state of Michigan made it even better. Nov. 2nd were off to Illinois for a week of bow hunting cant wait.

Hey David,
Just waiting for the moon to go away and more cooler temps, the deer in booger bottom over near Edwin's should start moving.
Good luck! Craig Dilbeck
Hey David,
Yeah, I am already seeing pre-rut signs in south GA. I rattled in a little buck a couple of weekends of ago and another guy saw a little buck trailing a doe, so this weekend should be good. Good Luck in TX. I have seen four bucks (two nice 8 pointers & two little bucks), lots of does, my mom and dad have also seen deer. Last weekend my mom killed her first coyote. Can't wait to hear from ya about TX. Talk to ya later.
God Bless & Good Huntin'

Good Luck in Texas. I'm sure you will do fine from what I hear about Texas. They say even a guy like me can kill a big one in Texas.
My season is going great. I do not have as much time for myself to hunt and devoted this year to filling the freezer. My wife bagged a doe on opening day. I was able to harvest a 6 point buck a week later. Now I am breaking out the recurve for my doe meat (one buck rule in Indiana). I have never harvested a deer with a recurve. I am excited to give it a shot. But the rest of my season is really devoted to my kids. They have never harvested a deer. They have been working hard at their archery skills, and I am bound and determined to help them be successful. That is why I am not devoting a lot of time for me. I think it will be far more rewarding for them to harvest a deer than any deer I could possibly kill. We are going to make a full on assult this weekend. May the arrows fly true, and the hair hit the ground.

Hey David,
Can’t wait to hear how the hunt in Tx went. Haven’t had a chance to get in the woods during gun season in Ga yet. I’m planning to go next week. My cousin killed a spike opening weekend and they saw 12 deer over this past week. I can’t wait to get back to the woods in Chester Ga. Hopefully this will be the year my wife gets her first deer. We will keep you updated. Good luck in Tx and the rest of the season.

Hey there David,
I have yet to see a deer this year, sad story this I know. I am a college student at CMU in MI and I had no where to hunt as Mount Pleasant (CMU) is 2 1/2 hours away from my home, so I found some public land to hunt on. I did all the right things as far as scouting the area, looking for sign and I found a lot of sign including a couple of nice big rubs, but no deer yet. Although I am a bit discouraged, I haven't given up as the rut will be in full gear in about a week or two. Hope Texas goes well for ya, as I'm sure it will.

Hey David,
Bow season is good in Southwest Virginia. I got a nice doe for meat in the freezer. I can't wait for muzzle loader and the rut. I love it when those seasons match up.
