Record Numbers in Nashville

A few weeks ago the National Wild Turkey Federation held their annual convention in Nashville, Tenn at the Opryland Resort and...

IT WAS WILD!!!

I gotta be honest. With the economy supposedly “tanking” like it is I would have never thought there would have been that many people there much less a RECORD SETTING crowd of 45,000 people over a three day period!

And no, I don’t think every single person who attended got their picture taken with Tiffany Lakosky. Only 41, 289 of them!

Lee and Tiffany set up shop in the Team Realtree booth for the show and I can tell you I had to show my I.D. and proof of citizenship to gain access into the booth!

Seriously, it was a ton of fun to see the excitement people have over the ol’ Waddell “Thunder Chicken”! As a matter of fact, I got all excited about going out and hearing a gobble!

When I got back from Nashville, I had the urge to pop in the newest All-Stars of Spring XVI to get my turkey slammin’ “fix”! Man, there are some awesome hunts on this year’s turkey DVD.

Check it out. You can buy it here.

My favorite memory from the entire season was in Montana when Michael, Phillip Culpepper and I decided to hunt the other side of the river with Bill Perkins. It took us an hour to go upstream, cross the bridge and then drive back downstream to where we wanted to go. As a crow flies, it was only about 6-8 miles away from where we stayed on one of the other ranches Bill hunts clients on!

It was magical! But you have to see the DVD!

Good luck this spring!

You have to keep rubbing it in my face. David.. I said I was sorry for not making it to the convention. I know I dissapointed 41,289 people by not showing up. I feel really bad that I couldn't make it to my autograph booth. Next year I will try to clear up my schedule and not have it so jammed packed. I'm sure Tiffany was able to simmer most of the hostilities caused by my absence.

Man it is tough pretending I'm famous. I think I will stick with being a small spud in a giant tater patch.

David, Sorry that I get to attend the convention but I was layed up in the hospital. I did see that you shoot with a BowTech. Congradulations with the good move. As you take it, I shoot with a BowTech 82nd Airborn, the best that was made at its time. I invite you to shoot in the National Triple Crowns and the World Shoot in Hidden Valley Ski Resorts in New York. I would love to see you there if you have time. Thank you for your time, Mike Blankenship, West Virginia

I was one of those 45,000 in attendance. I was there for three days and in total awe of the generosity and friendship from all of the stars. Lee and Tiffany and the Bone Collectors went above and beyond to make sure their fans had a chance to chat, get autographs and pose for pictures with them. The lines to meet and greet them were incredible. You were great too, David. To see the smiles on the young hunters faces as you signed their hats and wished them well was priceless.

If there is anywhere you would want to go to see your outdoor favorites the NWTF convention is it. It was a great time I will not soon forget.
