Default 05-06 RT Forum Deer Contest - RULES

    [ QUOTE ]
    DISCLAIMER

This is a COMPLETELY UNOFFICIAL CONTEST. The 2005-06 RT Forum Members Deer Contest is a contest created and operated independently by RT forum members and is not officially sanctioned or managed by Realtree or Jordan Enterprises

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's time for the 2nd Annual deer contest, before you sign-up make sure you read and understand all the rules, most everything is the same as last year but I did add a couple things which are bold & italicized

    DEADLINES
SIGN-UP DEADLINE - You have until September 30, 2005 to sign-up to participate in the contest

ENTRY DEADLINE - Contest will run from the opening of the first legal deer season until February 28th, 2006. At midnight on February 28th, 2006 the contest will be closed to further entries.

    ELIGIBLE ENTRIES
Any deer taken in the 2005-06 deer season. That includes muley, whitetails, blacktails and cous deer. Both does and bucks are eligible for entry. Deer may be taken however legal way choosen (bow, shotgun, rifle, etc... motor vehicles not allowed ).

    SCORING
5 points for a deer. Buck or Doe.
1 additional point will be added for every point on a rack of 1 inch or more.

Participant score will consist of 1 deer. If you are allowed to shoot more than 1 deer you may upgrade your score by submitting the new deer, this will cancel out your previous deer.

    INSTRUCTIONS FOR SIGNING-UP
To participate you must be a RT forum member.
    - In the 05-06 RT Forum Deer Contest - SIGN-UP thread make a post including your screen name, your age and the opening and closing dates of your deer season (if known).

HOW AND WHEN WILL TEAMS BE DRAWN
October 1st I will randomly draw names from a hat to determine teams -I will try [as best as possible] to evenly distribute low posters [-25 posts] and youth participants evenly across teams. Teams to consist of no more than 10 participants. If # of participants can be evenly divided at the deadline to make suitable teams it will be done, otherwise I will allow a short deadline extension that will end once the needed # of participants is filled or the new deadline is met - whichever comes first. There will be a thread made called 05-06 RT Forum Deer Contest - TEAMS & SCORES that will list the drawing outcome as well as have a running score throughout the contest.

    INSTRUCTIONS FOR ENTERING A DEER
To submit an entry a participant must include in the 05-06 RT Forum Deer Contest - ENTRY thread...
    - your screen name
    - if applicable, the number of tines that are longer than 1 inch (main beam counts),
    - not mandatory but if possible include your team name to help me out.
    - a photo of himself/herself with the deer Photo should show at least the entire front half of the deer or more - this is to avoid any possible accusations concerning people entering mounts. Also this pic has to be OF THE DEER, pics of only the skull plate will not be accepted
    - photo(s) that all scorable tines can be seen in. If 1 inch tine is questionable supply a photo with a measurement against the tine for verification.
    - a photo of legal tag This is a MUST, no deer will be entered without a pic of the tag.
    - FOR PARTICIPANTS IN STATES THAT DO NOT HAVE A TAGGING SYESTEM write the following information down on a piece of paper, your forum name, date deer was taken, state deer was taken in, print and sign your name - scan or take a pic of that info and supply it instead of the tag pic

** If you have issues with scanning or posting your photos I would be happy to help you out or post them for you, just send me a PM.

    TIE BREAKERS
In case of a tie, the teams participant scores will be arranged in descending order, the scores will be compared in that order with the highest particiapant score indicating the winning team. In the odd case of a tie past this the team names will be put in a hat and drawn, whoever is pulled is the winner.

    PRIZES
As of right now there are no prizes, but I'm hoping to update that information shortly after Oct 1.

We will recognize the highest scoring team.
We will also recognize the Youth (Age 18 and under) with the highest scoring deer.
We will recognize a Best of Contest Deer that will be voted on by RT forum members after the February 28th deadline.

If and when prizes are posted - only one prize package awarded to an individual member. In the case of a member winning in 2 or more categories they will receive the prize package of thier choice and the remaining prize packages will be awarded to the next runner(s) up.

    QUESTIONS, COMMENTS, ETC.
Please feel free to contact me via PM if you have any questions. If you have any comments, concerns or possible disputes please pm me so that I can look into it and get a decision made on it.

    Thank you,

    Gary (need2hunt)

One other thing......if you are new here and are entering, please check in periodically so your team members know you're still involved. We've had too many folks in other contests that will sign up and then disappear, which is unfair to the rest of the team.

If there is personal info on your tags that you do not want to show on the internet, you can blur that part of the pic or cover it for the pic. Your name and the date/year on the tag (if applicable) should still be visible.

I have seen a couple pics where im not quite sure if it is 1 in......What will happen if someone doesnt take a pic with a ruler proving it is one inch?
