Here is what I'm thinking.

200yd Zero, with a 150gr Nosler Ballistic Tip by Remington: It peaks out at about 125 yds at 1.71" high, and a 250yds, it is 2.82" low. At least according to the Remington Shoot software....

That would be a grand total of 4.53" of variance in point of impact throughout a 250 yd shot...... Pretty well deadly on anything in my book. This is assuming of course, that my gun is up to it....

What kind of scopes, and what zero do all of you '06 shooters use????

I use to own a Ruger M-77 in .30-06 and had a Redfield 4 to 12 power scope with a rangefinder, when I hunted in Colorado. The instructions said to sight dead on at 200 yards and use the "Accutrac" settings for shots out to 500 yards. Very good scope! http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have a bushnell 3x9 zeroed in at 1.5 high at 100. I shoot 180 grain bullets. Thats perfect for my moose and deer hunting since most shots are under 100 yards, and i won't shoot past 200 since my gun sucks. Need a new one that remington won't really group anything regardless of ammo type and weight.

I have a Leupold Vari-XII 3x9x40 on my Remington 700 BDL SS. I zero my 30-06 to hit dead on at 225 yards with Hornady Custom 150 grain Interbonds. This load hits 2.5" high at 100 yds. and only drops around 6 inches at 300 yards. Depending on how my nerves are acting when I shoot, I can get 3" three shot groups at 300 Yards. Thats MOA accuracy from an out of the box factory rifle with no tweaking what so ever. Great caliber and Great Rifle/Scope combo.

Yep, I sight mine in either 1.75" high or 2" high at 100 yards. Depending on the gun/scope combo. It gives a very decent point blank range.

I have a few setups on my 30-06 guns. One has a 3-9x40 Simmons, one has a Swift Premier 4-12x40 and one has a Simmons 44 Mag 3-10x44.

I have a Leupold Vari-XII 3x9x40 on my 700 adl 30/06. It is sighted in 1" high at 100 yards. I use Remington Core-Lokt 180 grains. This gun shoots awsome and I will never get rid of it.

What?!!! Everyone does not have a few of them???

Lets just say the number is more than 5 and less than 50. I have 3 Remington 700 long actions waiting to be turned into something. But, I need another rifle, like I need a hole in the head. I have the spectrum covered between .17 Remington and .338 Win Mag. I thought about a .375 RUM and .458 Win Mag. That would round out my selection nicely. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I have a Remington Model 700 LH with a Leupold VarX-III 2 1/2 x 8 . I also have a Tikka soon to have a Leupold VarX-II 4x 12. Plus my wife's Parker-Hale with a 6X Leupold. Doesn't every house in America have 3----30/06s ???

I site them all in a 2" high at 100 yards. I shoot 180 grains bullets.

Thats about identical to my set up. Im shooting a Remington 700 with a Bushnell 3x9x32. Im about 1.75-2" high at 100 yards. Im using 180grn Corelokt. They are deadly and will easily get the job done.

My Winchest Model 70 is a LH stainless & wood with the BOSS. I true 1/2" gun at 100 yards. I have a Leupold VX-III 2.5-8x monuted on top. My favorite biggame scope. sighted 2" high at 100 puts me only 6.5" low at 300 yards with 165 grain factory core lokts. (as shot at the range)

The power range is perfect for me. I have the same scope on my 338 win mag, my 300 wby mag and even...........my 12 gauge slug gun http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hey AJ, if you're looking for ideas on what to turn one of those Rem 700 into here's an idea. Turn it into ME.
