Who on here bowhunts? how many deer have you sht wth it? What kind of set up do you have? Do you prefer tree stand or ground blind. For me i shoot a golden eagle Obsession with g-5's, trophy ridge sight, and wisker bisquit rest. I have been bowhunting since I was 11. I have only shot one buck before, but that will change this year http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif I prefer a treestand at about 16 feet. It also depends what kind of area I am hunting in. Right now we have no stands set up so we hut from the ground, which has its advantages sometimes.

I just got my compound, But I did use a Crossbow, but I like to wait for the big one, whether he comes or not. So I haven't taken any by bow, YET.

been bowhunting for 5 years now, and seriously bowhunting for two. So far this season I have harvested a mature doe. I have passed a few small bucks and does. I am now waiting on a mature buck to come by.

I have the past 2 years, but not going to this year. Right before football season my serving got all messed up, and I never got a chance to fix it. I would like to get into some traditional shooting next summer. I think it'd be more fun. I wouldn't hunt that way though.

Bowhunting is the only way to go! http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I like gun hunting too, but bowhunting is my passion.
This my 3rd year bowhunting (I'm 19) and I've shot one doe last year. I've been real close several times.
My setup is:
- 2004 Hoyt XTEC
- Cam & 1/2 Performance System
- XT 1000 Limbs
- Realtree Hardwoods Green HD Camo
- 65 Pounds at 28"
- 75% Let-off
- Easton C2 Hardwoods Green HD 400's (27 1/2")
- Muzzy 100's 3-Blade Broadheads
- Team Extreme Sniper XLT Sight (Black, 3 Green 0.019" Pins)
- Trophy Taker Original Rest (Camo)
- Vibracheck Isoflex Stabilizer (Hardwoods Green HD)
- Sims Camo Ultra LimbSavers
- Sims Super Stealth String Leeches
- Fletcher Hunter Tru Peep
- Release Loop
- Scott Little Goose Release
Plan on 70 pounds, 65% let-off modules, new string, new arrows, new release and maybe a different Vibracheck stabilizer this spring.
Summit treestands are the only treestand I use. My favorite is a Headhunter Lite hang-on with a Swiftree Ladder, about 14' to the bottom of the platform. I also have Bucksteps for crooked trees or other trees where a ladder isn't workable. I have a Viper XLS climber and waiting for things to go through for a Viper X4.
I also like groundblinds. I have an Ameristep Doghouse in Advantage Timber. Looking at the Brickhouse TSC in Max4 HD or Hardwoods Green HD.

Well, I didn't want to come right out and say it. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
If you want an XTEC or ViperTec, better buy it in 2005, I wouldn't bank on it being around in 2006. I'm probably going to go with Mathews this spring. I don't like what Hoyt is doing with the Advance Tec risers at all. They look more dangerous to use than to shoot an animal with. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Points (or warts as JB says) sticking out in every direction, flames in the riser...ugh. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif The previous "standard" Tec's don't look bad, but I don't like the new ones at all.

I try sometimes. I've only shot one buck, a puny little 8 pointer, but he was legal and it was my first. I didn't even hunt one day this last season. I had no time, and no land to hunt on. Also, I didn't have my bow setup right, tuned, and all that, and I hadn't practiced much with it for months. So there was no way I was going to hunt this season. Last year I hunted two days and couldn't get a shot on a couple does 7 yards away coming down the trail I was hunting, then a poacher came through during rifle season and spoiled the rest of the bow season. Anyway...
I'm 16, and I shot a:
'02 Bowtech Patriot Infinity 65% 25/60
Copper John DN Pro
GKF TKO
GKF Tranquilizer
Berry Strings
Fletcher Tru peep
Magnocks
PSE Carbon Force Dominator 200 arrows
Muzzy 90 grain 4-blade heads
Limbsavers
T.R.U. Ball Loopmaster
D-loop
Doinker module and dawg weight on back of riser
I'm switching shotgun and bow shooting to left hand because of my left eye dominance, so I'll need to get 2 new bows (hunting and target) and a new shotgun........$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ YIKES! http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Yeah, I could do that I suppose, but that still doesn't change the fact that I don't pick up the peep as well with my right eye as my left.
