On Sunday, we were up at our cabin upstate when we had an on and off thunder storm rolling through. Well anyway, we were sitting down eating dinner when I started talking about how cool it would be if lighting were to touch down in the field in front of us when an extremely loud thunder sounded off. Now my brother, who has been known to be dramatic and overkill every and any reaction to anything, he throws himself off his chair from sitting at the table and the chair flew across the kitchen. LOL.. Well my dad starting yelling at him etc.. But we all saw a flash.
Then the next morning when coming back from going fishing, our neighbor flags us down and wants to show us something. We go over and would you look at that, 2 house down, his tree outside his house got struck by lighting. His computer got fried, his phoneline got fried, his tv and everything was toasted. He saw a flash too.
I got some pics of what his tree looked like and you can obviously see how the lightning got into his house. Through the light and into his ground line:

Get trees struck around us from time to time. Maples seem to draw more lightning around here for some reason.

We've had a few like that too around this area. It's scary when it happens... http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
