17% MEDICARE INCREASE

Have you seen the John Kerry commercial in which George Bush pledges to help Seniors on Medicare and "the very next day imposes a 17% premium increase - the biggest in history"? That ad is a stroke of genius on Kerry's part and will surely gain him many votes among the uninformed.

It was found to be so amazing that someone did some homework on the issue. As it turns out the 17% increase was not imposed by President Bush but was mandated by the "balanced budget agreement" signed by President Clinton, voted into law by Senator John Kerry, and was scheduled to come into effect during the Bush administration. President Bush had no authority to reverse what had been voted into law by Senator Kerry during the Clinton administration.

Once again Kerry is counting on the ignorance of the American people.

Really am sick of all the negative ads Kerry and his people are putting out.

Locally there are a some pretty negative ads out there. Surprisingly they are being run by the democrats getting stuffed in my mailbox every day and all over the television. Think the biggest is the deal that just about every republican candidate for any office here locally that is up for re-election or for election has suposedly been involved in taking "drug" money from the pharmaceuticals.

What I don't understand, is why in this day and age, that any candidate would place an ad that is misleading or outright lies, and they all do it, Republican and Democrat, but why with all our technology and the ability to get information in seconds and able to dispel rumors or false ads, why do they even bother putting them out. I guess they figure most people wouldn't even bother checking the info out.

Some people will vote based upon what they see on the little flyer they got in their mailbox for 4 consecutive weeks every day the mail runs prior to the election without ever checking for themselves to see that the claims are legit. The "Blame game" is a big thing for politicians and if they can hit home with some voters on key issues and attach blame directed towards the other party, those voters might just believe that the reasons they are claiming for the problems are just true because they said so and it might seem to be fitting or to make sense. Some people sadly enough really are that naive.

Here the state rep campaign has been totally ridiculous. I try not to be biased, but the negative campaigning by the democratic candidate for the state rep has been a huge turnoff to me, and even if I did nto like the republican candidate there is no way I would vote for the democrat who has waged a non stop smear campaing on his opponent. The republican candidate we met just the other day while he was door to door telling voters to get out and vote, he is the incumbent has not said a single word on his opponent at all. Not saying it is like that with all races, just what we are seeing locally, seems to be considerably more smear campaigns directed by democrats, and most of them are using the same concept as a primary attack that so and so took such and such monies from pharmaceutical companies.
