Mechanical Broadheads

Sayin that you have enough kinentic energy, the two top performers penetration wise would be in this order.

1. Rocket Steelhead
2. Rocky Mountain Snyper

There are several other great mechanical heads out there, but these two are the best for low KE set-ups (if you have high ke they just make your arrow dig deeper in the ground).

Check out NAP Spitfires at www.newarchery.com. (http://www.newarchery.com.) These are the most popular mechanicals not too mention probably the best mechanicals as well. They are extremely sharp right out of the box, they have a 1 and a half inch cutting diameter which is small enough for excellent penetration, and they fly true. Unlike other mechanicals Spitfires dont have o-rings so they are probably the simplest mechanicals as well. Good Luck!

outdoor life did a penetration tests of a bunch of broadheads--both fixed and mechanical. The 2nd best penetrating mechanical was gametrackers silvertip. I have some, they shoot right with my field tips but so did my cabela lazor pros. The blades on the silvertip were sharp out of the package but not as sharp as i like---i did sharpen them a bit. I shot one through a foam target, exited out the back and penetrated through a 1/4 inch plywood. It did bend one of the blades but was still intact. They are very inexpensive heads--at wal-mart they run about 12 bucks for three heads. They have two collars so you can shoot at either 85 grains or 100 grains. here is a link to what they look like.

Well I prefer fixed blade broadheads...but if I were to switch...it would be to Rocky Mt. Snypers!
