No luck here. I hunted Saturday morning and Sunday evening and haven't seen a deer. This will probably be a rough year for the early season for me. Most of my stands are on bottomland with a lot of crops. Everything is too wet to combine at this point. Usually the deer stay in the corn. It may be Nov before it is all off.
I did get to try out my thermacell last night. It worked awesome as soon as it heated up the mosquitos were gone.

I'd love to get me a wall hanger this year but all I can promise is some tenderloins.

Same Here, going to try to bag a bruiser but won't pass up a good sized deer. I've eaten to many tag sandwiches waiting for Mr. right to step out in front. Bad part is I had my chance at a beauty P&Y last year but couldn't shoot cause it was a doe only zone, even though I seem to be the only one abiding by it(170 P&Y someone took last year 50 yds from my stand, illegally) http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif.
As far as names I'm easy, tenderloins and taters, made me chuckle, I like it http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif .

Man what a night. Should have stayed home, well maybe. Started out late, filled my boots, sat on a sandbar ringing out my socks and dumping the water out. Let them air dry 5 mins, put em back on, start up the bank and off bounds a small 8 point. So I make it to my stand, get settled, trying to do foot exercises in my boots to keep my feet warm and dumped the front pouch of my pack on the ground. About 4:30(right after the pack dumping) spotted a doe 100 yds away, try calling to her to no avail, she walks across the creek away from me. Then 5:30 here runs a doe right by me into my shooting lane and turns directly away, no shot. I was at full draw ready to deliver. I try to doe bleat to turn her back but again to no avail. So I have my release hand in my pocket, bow on my lap sitting down. A few minutes later here comes a bigger doe the same way but slower, gets to my shooting lane turns broadside, still, 22 yds, grunting looking for the callmaker . I have to watch her walk off grunting. As I was going to hook my release I noticed it was in two pieces. I use a tru ball tornado, which has a pin that connects the release to the wrist strap, well the pin somehow fell out. So I'm up in the tree trying to jerry rig it so I can pull back. I did but it was to late(used my pull up rope http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif). Then coming out I get to where the truck is suppose to be and it's gone http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. My dad(hunting partner) went driving through the field across the creek looking for me, so I had to walk down a gravel road to him. Man what a night, almost delivered the backstraps. Just had to chuckle on this one.

Calling for 2-6 inches of rain maybe! Dont think Ill be hunting today. But last week I seen two 8 pointers. One was very nice! Gonna try for him!
As for a name, I dont care I like #7. But you cant use anything that says Midwest. Because I dont live there! LOL! Keep it universal!

Welcome aboard LiffeNRA. Well guys I screwed up. Last night at very last light, I had a deer come in and it acted like a doe and I couldn't make out any headgear, so I decided to take her. Well after a good shot and a short blood trail, I walked up on it to see antlers. It was a small buck, to say the lest I'm disappointed I'm making such a small contribution to the team http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. I thought about letting my dad tag him but can't tag another person's deer they shot during bow season. That was my any sex tag I had to use, so I'm doe hunting until shotgun season, hopefully I'll pick it up. Well he ought to taste great (no tag sandwich), very young and healthy looking, 135 pounds field dressed. It was cool watching my home made lighted nock find the mark. Good hunting you guys, might try to get some geese this year now.

OK boys, since we're starting to put some numbers on the board we need to pick a name and go with it.
It looks like...
Leathal Threat
The WallHangers
and
Treetop Assasins
have showed the most interest.
Whoever checks in between now and tommorrow at about this time vote for one. Then I'll tell Need2hunt which one we chose.
My vote goes to The WallHangers
