hey im here checkin in, ohio opens up saturday, its still pretty thick, i have been doin a lot of scouting this year! i hunt in an urban area around cincinnati, ive seen a lot of big bucks.... over a half a dozen in the 125-135 range and few that may go bigger. if its outside the ears its down though! im hoping to bag a few does as well. sad to say last year i grazed a 140 incher, well this year hes only bigger! anyway im 22 and i work in an emergency room 4 days a week so i have usually 2-3 days a week to hunt, im about so start back to school but that will be evenings and will NOT mess with my hunting. im open to suggestions for names! lets get-r-done!

ok im bored now...where is our team? what all do we have in here... i bow hunt, can shotgun, will muzzleload! i hunt out of my viper climber and have a few fixed position stands i will put up once some leaves clear out. im gonna do my best to lay the smack down on a big one!
Summit Viper here, also.
Oklahoma's Bow season runs from October 1st to January 15. I should have a good shot of harvesting at least an eight point.
First doe that walks by without a young fawn will be on the ground, also.
Good luck to those who's opening day is tomorrow.
Sure would be nice to get a 10 pointer on opening morning...http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Stellfox here. Just saw that the teams had been selected. I will try to think of some names for our team. Season starts tomorrow. Still real thick in the woods.
Hunting this afternoon http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I am in SC and there has been alot of activity in the area the landowner is putting me http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
How about the name "Baglimit"?
Here's some:
Ultimate Predators
Treestand Terrors
Team Bloodtrail
Team Tucked Tail
Rubline Renegades
stellfox

I like those team names. How about
Team: Deer 911
Team Rack Attack
Ok, how about this...we'll start an official list. Each team member can add two potential names to the list. Team members will then PM me their favorite out of the list, exluding their own choices. The most votes wins.
So basically, if you haven't already, throw two names into the ring. Once a list has been made, PM me your choice but remember, you can't vote for your own name.
Here's the list so far:
Ultimate Predators
Rubline Renegades
Team Deer 911
Team Rack Attack
Team Baglimit
Come on team, let's add some more.

so i went out this morning. i was set to shoot first doe well mom and 2 yearlings came and and walked right under me and then i had four decent sized does come in but the one on the end kept lookin back like there were more or she was a little nervous so i was thinkin there might be a group of bucks around hanging back or something.boy was i wrong! so either tomorrow or monday i will get back out and not pass that up again...had atleast 5 shots i could have taken all under 20 yards! any ideas with names yet and where the heck is the rest of our team?
Uneventful morning. Only gets harder. The weather is warming up and the low tonight will be in the upper 60's.
I'm hunting around some acorns, so maybe with the moon phase, I'll catch some early nibblers tonight.

so i went out this morning and didnt see but three does in a field about a hundred yards off.... lots of other critters though! oh well back out tomorrow morning and tueday then i work until next monday, hospital schedules are odd at best so i work all kinds of odd days and hours. now i wish i would have taken one of those does yesterday!

10-02-2005, 12:35 PM
should we pm the others? i think im gonna get a little nervous if they dont check in soon!
Had a pretty good morning. At 7:15 had a doe within 35 yards but no shooting lane. The trail she was on led right past one of my shooting lanes but she veered off feeding and ended up skirting me.
At 10, I'm not sure if I was busted or if something spooked her, but I had a doe bust out of a thicket directly in front of me at 40 yards. I had just got through correcting my face net, when she took off. She didn't blow and something just tells me that she never saw me. She actually ran at an angle towards me, coming within 30 yards.
At 11, a deer came barreling through the woods at about 70 yards out. Couldn't make the sex out, so I stood up and grunted a little bit...I was tired of seeing deer and not getting a shot..http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif As soon as I grunted, I looked in the direction the deer and came from and spotted a nice 8 point walking the same trail. This surprised me, because I know the rut is still a few weeks off, but if that first deer was a doe like I believe it was, then I just saw my first rutting action on October 2. Needless to say, I couldn't draw the buck in closer.
All in all, it was a great day. The weather was in the 80's but the deer were moving great. The weather is currently in the 90's but with the amount of movement, I may still go out for an evening hunt.

Sorry guys....didn't mean to leave you hanging. I am checking in. Been really hectic the last couple of weeks.
A little about me....well I am 27 years old. Married to my wonderful wife of 3 years, no kids yet. One dog and a really spoiled cat.
Our season....TN opened on Sept. 24.....can't tell you how many does I have already passed up...just been too hot to fool with one right now.
I had a really nice 10 point within 60 yards the other day, but just couldn't get him any closer. Looks like it will be a great season. Our trail cams have been getting alot of buck footage.
As for a name.....I really like Rubline Renagades....or here is a new one.......Stag Horns!
It doesn't matter much to me.....just let me know.
Sorry about taking so long to check in. Just started a new job and talk about a long week. I just took a job as an EMS Supervisor at our County Ambulance Service. Lots of things to work out. Owell nothing a couple of days on stand can't fix!
See ya'll soon. Hope I'll be posting some numbers soon!

well made it back out this morning and about 9 i spotted antlers on the hill across from me. the farm i hunt has 2 pastures and the valley between them is lightly wooded and then the valley in the back of the property is heavily wooded. well the big bucks hold tight to the fence line by the pasture so they can see everything and cut betweeen 2 other propperties and our place we hunt is the cut through, well the 8 i saw worked down the fence line and then just cut into the woods about 60 yards away. about noon i was leaving and i walked the fence to check where the deer were coming through and i spotted a huge 10 about 20 yards over just eating. he saw me but just turned and trotted off.i would say the 8 was in the 120ish range but the 10 definetly 140 or better he was just massive and wide....just a beautiful deer. i have a tree im not sure if its climable but tomorrow im gonna try and watch that trail all morning. then its off to work for 5 days straigt on 12 hours shifts!

rubline renegades fits... that dang ten pointer was coming from a nice rub line that ends at the property line i decided im not gonna pressure that spot yet, not until i can rattle a little at them to try to get him running outnot this weekend but the next ill be out and it should be about time to do some light sparring... should drive them crazy! mid afternoon he is grazing around over there... heres the antlers banging and next thing he knows hes in the freezer lol

No problem, boone. Just glad you responded...http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
We've still got a few missing in action. I've talked to Strut10 and his wife will be checking in later on.
As for the others, who knows??
This weekend the temps are supposed to drop into the 40's!!!!! Woohoo! Plus, the bank will be observing Columbus day, so I'll have a three day weekend.
My two week vacation starts on October 28. Hopefully, by then, I'll be holding out for something with a lot of points...http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

well i didnt see squat this morning... still too warm. i walked the fence row with my bow in hand today ready to take a quick shot and what do ya know on my way out there is a fat doe where that buck stood yesterday, i dropped and waited and the deer never knew i was there but she didnt come across the fence... she was in the thick stuff. so i found a shag bark tree right by the fence where the deer are crossing... treestand is going up friday afternoon after work. then after working all weekend monday morning i will be relaxing in my stand waiting on mr big... or even mrs medium sized doem, lol.

Hi!! I'm checking in!! http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I guess some of you were worried that I had already abandoned ship. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif I'm not on the computer very much. So I may not check in real often.
My name is Jan. I'm a full-time mom of a 9 month old girl. I've been bowhunting off & on since 1998. So far I've gotten a buck and a doe. I don't have a doe tag this year. I will be holding out for a buck bigger than what I've shot already.........one for the wall. So, hopefully, if I contribute to the team, it will be in a big way.
Mark another vote for "Team Rack Attack".
DaveGP
10-05-2005, 12:22 AM
so whats the name gonna be... has everyone voted? mch has a count but i dont know if its still accurate?i just saw it is supposed to rain on monday.... booo my first day off to get back into the woods!
3 for Rubline Renegades
2 for Team Rack Attack
1 for Team Baglimit
We've still got a few votes out there yet to be cast.
Everyone is slowly starting to get their names in.
We need to decide something.
When we get the name, we might can get someone to fix us something to go in our sig line.
DaveGP

if they havent checked in by now they probably arent too concerned with our team name... i vote we go with what we got if we dont hear anything by the weekend!
Thought I'd post before we drop off the page.
Got out last night right before the cold front hit us but didn't see anything 'cept cattle..http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

hey guys. so sry it taken so long for me to get on. The computer went down a couple of weeks ago and a medical problem has kept me from moving around to much. I just havent been able to get on the computer. My season started back on sept 15. I can only hunt weekends because i still have this last year of high school. I went out the first few weekends with not much action. It had been realy hot. The last 2 weeks i havent been able to make it out to the woods. This past weekend was just a washout and wouldnt have been safe to be out and before that i wasnt cleared to take part in any physical action. This comeing weekend i should be back at it though. Cant wait and hopefully i can help us out. As for the team name il go for anything but il put my vote in for the rubline renegades. Good luck to all and i should be back in here much more often than i have been.
Ok so far here's the tally:
4--Rubline Renegades
2--Team Rack Attack
1--Team Bag Limit
We've got 3 votes left to cast and I've PM'd the 3 members.
Hopefully we'll have a team name this week..http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'll PM Gary and he'll change our post for us.

Well guys....I thought I had us on the board last Saturday. Shot a good size doe Saturday morning, but couldn't find her. don't really know what happened. She was at 10 yrds broadside, complete pass through, and what I thought was a well placed shot....great blood for about 200 yrds, then it went to nothing, shortly there after she got in some water and we didn't find anything else.
Owell maybe next time. On a better note. Saw 9 different bucks Saturday......7 of them are shooters. Just got to get them in range. Well good luck to all!
And by the way....like the name!
It always hurts to loose a wounded animal.
Good luck, Josh, sounds like you're in the deer. Me? I haven't spotted one in the last 4 hunts..http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Might venture out tonight. Not sure. Temps are supposed to be in the 80's so I might not try it.

10-13-2005, 01:38 PM
dont worry kevin its only a matter of time before it cools off, and then you will be seein some deer! this morning i saw a doe in the dark standing in front of the hole in the woodline where i walk in and i scanned the rest of the woodline with the light to see how many more deer there were and wham... big buck with her... he ran into the woods down by another stand location we have. grunted 2x about 9 and something came running in behind me and when it didnt see anything it started snorting or blowing or whatever you wanna call it... that happened a few times and then it took off... still too thick out in the woods to see much! back out saturday. good luck team!
dave
Friend of mine came over tonight and I took him out to a spot that I'd picked out earlier in the year. It will be his first time bowhunting. I bought him his first bow this year and have been teaching the fundamentals and I think he's ready to go.
The spot will be easy to get to in the dark which is good since he's never been up a tree with a treestand with no light...http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I've had him practicing around his house though and I've warned him that its a different ballgame in the dark.
Anyway, we're both headed out in the morning. Hopefully we'll have good hunts.

so no luck here today, heck,i didnt even see any deer! its too darn warm. i cant wait for the weather to cool off some.im debating if i want to go back out tomorrow or not. im kinda nervous though, i had a surgery done in june to have a cyst removed and they stitched it shut well the other day i noticed i have a hole in the spot where the incision is. the doc in the er where i work said it sounds like something called a suture abcess which he said will go away on its own but i do have an appointment to go see my surgeon on friday! says some prayers please that this will be all it is. its on my lower lower back and if they would have to cut and drain anything that could knock my hunting out for a week or two so hopefully the er doc was right with his guess and its just some antibiotics! on that note did anyone else do anything today?

Well guys I wish I could come in here and tell you that I put us on the board. I had another bad day in the stand on Monday. I shot another doe....she was 20 yards broadside......shot all the way through her and couldn't find her. We even put the dog on her and nothing. I am now officailly switching broadheads. I have been shooting Rocky Mountain Snypers....but no more. That is two deer this year that should have been on the ground. Anyways.....looks like I am a montec man now.
On another note.....our trail cams got some interesting pics last week.....a really nice 11 point.
I will be looking for him now!
Good luck you guys and God bless.

Well, guys and gals. Today is officially the first day of my vacation! Fixing to head out but it looks like rain might bring me in early.
So far, we've had three big deer taken off the lease. A big 9 and two big 8's. Hopefully, I'll add my deer to the list before next Thursday.
Nothing to report as of yet. Did see a nice 8 this morning 80 yards out though.
I've still got over a week and a half left on vacation.
Next Thursday, I'm headed up to a bowhunting only Wildlife Management Area for the yearly Realtree Okie Deer Camp.
How's everyone else doing?
Well, we're fixing to be on the board!
Harvested a doe this morning with my bow. Great hunt. When I get time I'll post in the User's Daily Journal and I'll post a link to it here.
Going tonight to get the pics. Should have them by tomorrow.

Well boys....I got us some more points....pictures will be on here tomorrow. I would do it today but I am at work.
I took a pretty decent 8 point yesterday afternoon. I had already passed up one that was bigger, but this guy came in the food plot and had already been shot so I decided to take him.
He is about 15" wide, I was proud of him and we needed the meat. Freezer was getting low.
Anyways just wanted to give you guys the good news. Looks like we are moving on up in points, but still have a long way to go.
Hopefully I will be able to upgrade later on in season. We have been seeing some pretty good deer this year. Several 10's and a couple of 11's. So we will see.
Hope everyone is having a great season.
Josh
Congratulations, CSM!
Boy, we're moving on up now...http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I'm headed out this morning. After the morning's hunt, I'm packing up and heading to James Collins Wildlife Management Area for a little Realtree Deer Camp. Looks like only 4 or 5 members are going to make it this year, but it ought to be a blast.

man i feel bad team! i havent had a deer come into bow range in probably 3 weeks now. i have seen them but they arent having anything to do with me! last night right out in the field where i hunt i saw a big 8 and a bigger 10 but this morning the deer forgot to come to the party! im gonna keep it up until the end of jan though. first doe that slips is getting tagged, i should have shot one opening morning! as for buck 8 points and up.

No not yet, I haven't had time. It has been busy for me. I am hoping that i won't have to enter the doe after this week coming. Gun season starts for me on Monday. I will get it in though.

dave
Good luck, Dave. We need to put some more points on the board guys. I've been passing up some smaller bucks here lately, but gun season ends next weekend and I'm gonna have to fill the 20 dollar tag with something or my wife will get upset...http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Go get em Dave http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Go ahead and post the does for points if you got em folks. The contest allows you to upgrade.
If I can upgrade my six point I will. I am still hunting for something bigger. Pretty happy with that deer regardless, he was a bonafide mature animal.

Well guys I have been hard at it and havent had but one chance at a nice buck, but buddy came by a little early and spooked him off. I have posted the pictures of a doe in the gallery and will update if I get me a buck.
What else do I have to do to enter it in the contest?
You're good BC. They'll update our scores when they get time.
Congrats on the doe and good luck on the buck.

well ohio gun season isnt looking too hot right now. i went out monday and thursday(today) and still havent seen any deer. we are stumped as to whats up. i will be back out this weekend.
How's everyone doing??
I had to resurrect us. We had dropped off the current page...http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Haven't been able to go back out but once since I got the 6pt. God willing I will upgrade before the end of the year.
If I do get a chance at a good doe I'll take it. I could use one more in the freezer.

nothing, thats whats going on here. i dont understand it, i still havent had a shot, i know i only hunt on thirty acres but man,the deer are always cutting through and latley they have been holed up!
Be patient, sounds like the does are allowing the bucks to breed right now.
Bucks will bed down with a doe at this time and deer movement is minimal. They are kinda like honeymooners is a hotel http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif. If you can find them you have a good chance for a shot. But finding the "hotel" room ain't easy. Alot of times it will end up being where you usually never see deer.

Hey guys....sorry I haven't been on here for awhile, been doing alot of hunting and a little work....LOL
Anyways I got another 8 point last week and it is a really nice deer. Only problem is I will end up entering my small 8 point in the contest.
See the problem with the big 8 I killed last week is both brow tines are broken off. I haven't put a tape on him yet, but don't know that they will make 1" after breaking. Sad thing is...I have a picture of him from one of our trail cams two days earlier and he has app. 8" brow tines in it.
My taxidermist says he can fix it and make it look like nothing every happened to it.
Anyways, as soon as I get a chance I will post my pics. Hopefully it will be this week. Just haven't had a chance.
My pregnant wife has been keeping me really busy.LOL
Anyways....hope all is going well with everyone else. God bless and go team go!
Congrats CSM.
Good luck to everyone else.
I just looked at the scores....http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
There are two teams with over 100 points...http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
That's quite a ways from our 29...http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Got invited to hunt a lease that is a major honey hole tomorrow. The opportunity for me upgrading my entry is definately there. I know we probably can't catch up even if I nail a whopper but wish me luck anyhow. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
PS. I won't turn down a nice doe. I could use the meat.

No luck gun season. Hope for a better muzzleloader season. i will send my pic of my doe later.
Well, I nailed a Fat South Carolina Doe yesterday (110lbs live weight) so no upgrade.
So I guess my consolition prize is going in the freezer! http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Well the SC season is over. One doe and one buck I can't complain one little bit.
Only chance for an upgrade now is if I roadtrip to Alabama which is open till Jan 31st.
Anyone on the team still hunting?
