From Ontario Canada. I hope I am able to put some points up on the board for our team. Last year I shot an 8 point during shotgun and a decent 10 pointer with my bow. Season start on Saturday.

Alright nubs!! Way to get us on the board. Congrats.

Do ya think they'd let me enter my bull, instead of a deer??? http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Anyway, I won't be getting into the deer hunt until the beginning of November, but I'll do my best to make a contribution. Way to go Nubs, starting us off with a buck http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. Oh yeah, I'm from Manitoba. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I like Triple B (Big Buck Busters)

Here are some bucks I plan to hunt this fall. These pictures were taken with my homebrew trail camera.

The first is of a buck I got a picture of last year. Picture was taken in late October.

These are two bucks that I'll be looking for that I got pictures of this year.
http://www.realtree.com/img/536/medium/shootercropped.jpg
http://www.realtree.com/img/536/medium/Niceshooter2.jpg

Plan on getting the trail camera over a scrape tomorrow. Hopefully I can find another big shooter for our team. Haven't had the chance to hunt yet but will hopefully make it out tomorrow.

Go team 24!

My vote is for Team Droptine. I do have the opportunity to hunt those stinky mulies, but I prefer chasing the whitetails around.

Hey team.

Just thought I would check in. I'm sorry to report but I have been having a terrible bow season. I can't remember a year where I saw so few bucks. Especially big ones. Rut seemed to be a flop. Practically no activity at all.
My week shotgun hunt starts on Monday. Hopefully I'll be able to put some points on the board. If not it will come down to late season bow hunting.

Here is a picture of a nice 8 pointer that I got off my trail camera on the 22nd. I'd have a hard time not pulling the trigger on this deer. Even though I'd love to see what he would look like next year.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/NorfolkHunter/Wide8.jpg

Good work to all of those that have scored for team droptine. I've been trying to place some points on the board but so far this year has been a bust. Last year I shot two a nice 10 and a young 8. This year nothing. Man is this hunting ever frustrating.

Thanks nubs, he is a nice buck but not the one I wanted. There was only 6 or 7 minutes of legal shooting time left when he came out at the far end of the field, I saw the body size, and the height of his G-2's and thought it was the one. I took a single shot at 404 yards, and drove a 140 grain balistic tip through his heart, but when I walked up to him I realized it wasn't the buck I was after. Oh, well I was happy how the hunt unfolded and with the shot, so I have nothing to complain about. As for the weight, I don't know, we didn't weigh him.

I've only been down through that country once but I sure liked it-getting a little too populated-don't give up on those clearcuts in coming years-they are kind of hog heaven in our neck of the woods.

whitetailtrax
12-06-2005, 12:11 PM
The clearcuts of Western Montana are wonderful producers of quality forage that the deer love. A clearcut surrounded by thousands of acres of heavy timber is even better. I have a handful of 140-150 class bucks from these types of cuts. Unfortunately when you have thousands of acres of clearcuts with only small patches of timber just can't prduce the mature deer because there is so little security. As the clearcuts grow up they become unhuntable, but they start providing security - then it's time to get the saw back out.

I got mine entered today. Has anyone been keeping a running total for our team? I know we have a handful of bucks and couple does. I'd have to go back and read the rules - seems like we get points for entering an animal and then also points for number of points on the rack. I think we're doing ok - hopefully you folks still hunting can add to the total - good luck!

whitetailtrax
12-13-2005, 06:21 PM
I just went through and added our score up - I believe we have a score of 71 points which is pretty good! There have been 6 of us who have "entered" a deer (not sure all are officially entered). That means we have 4 team members who still could shoot something.

From snooping around the other team sites, it appears there are a couple teams approaching 100 pts which we could certainly get to if everyone shoots a buck.

Well I've never had a harder season. Wasn't able to hunt as much as normal but still haven't been able to seal the deal.
Our gun hunt ended on Saturday. Our group ended up with 9 deer. Unfortunately I wasn't able to connect on any of the deer. Haven't even shot at a deer this year.
Still have until the 31st of December to get a late season buck with my bow. I'll give it my best.
Sorry team if I don't connect.
