Looks like we are still missing some folks.....We need to come up with a name soon and get some discussion going.

remington870
10-03-2005, 11:14 PM
well it has pretty much been to hot here this week, i tried to hunt opening evening but i was to sick to stay on stand and came home early, saw 4 deer though. It is supposed to get a cold front here thursday and i am off so i will try my chances then. My buddy shot a large doe opening day so the deer are here, we have great stand set ups and just have to have the proper wind for them to be effective.

TexasDeerHunter
10-03-2005, 11:29 PM
HOT here as well. I hope to try and sling an arrow at something this weekend. I definately will hunt weekend after next and hope it cools off quite a bit. We have seen plenty of deer, just not while we were hunting. I hunt in a five deer county and will try and shoot all five to get some points. I will most likely donate the deer to Hunters for the Hungry. Last week in November I head to Kansas to try my luck, can shoot four deer there so hopefully I can get all nine this year. Good Luck remington.

no deer movement here, went out last night and this morning and saw nothing. next try will be on sunday, at least the temps are supposed to drop 20-30 degrees tonight!!! why not go with a silly name that has nothing to do with hunting like chocolate chip cookie, at least we will stand out! http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

went to the doc yesterday and found out i broke my wrist in my football game last weekend http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif but they put a cast on it so i can still play, but hunting might be a different story. i prolly wont be able to shoot my bow so,maybe, if my dad will let me, i can use his crossbow this weekend and see what i can do

TexasDeerHunter

We had a front come in late last night and temp dropped to 52 so I went out this evening by the house. I saw a small 6pt chasing a little doe around and then another small doe. Earlier I was looking through my bino's from my living room and saw alot of doe and that same little 6 moving around from about two o'clock until I went out at 6:15. They are definately moving here, but I have seen no big boys around the house. Last year there were three 8 points and a nice 10 point, but I have yet to see them this year. I am gonna try in the morning and then head to my deer lease next Thursday. Good luck to ya'll, has anyone come up with a name and found our other two team mates?

tarbaby
10-08-2005, 09:41 PM
Well ya'll went out this morning for the first time this year and it was awesome. About 30mins after sunup a nice 10pt. i think is what it was steps into the field. Didnt get close enough but guessin he'll go low 130s. Then about an hour later an old doe comes walking by at like 8yds but had a little one with her so passed... she winded me and went around the bend of the field. 5mins after that another big doe comes by on the same path with two little ones behind her... so i passed... but just then the first doe comes back so i decided to take her since the two youngins have the othere doe there. 25yd shot... down after 40yds... going back in the morning for that buck... all i have is one more either sex tag and will be holdin out for a p&y... good luck to the rest of ya

Howdy Addct2hntng and congrats to tarbaby. I have not put an arrow in anything yet, but I am heading out Thursday for the deer lease. I talked with a land owner today who has a small 57 acre plot literally a stones throw from my back door and he gave me permission to hunt it. Have not seen any big boys there yet, but it will allow me alot more hunting time since it is close to home. Any names yet for the team?

RDNKHNTR77
10-11-2005, 06:43 PM
no luck this weekend. it was bad weather and i only got out for about an hour and a half. not sure when im gonna be able to go home next but hopefully its soon because i got some prime spots picked out that i am excited to hunt. how bout for a team name: team ram rod http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif if ne one has seen super troopers theyll prolly like that one lol

Just wondering how things are going for everbody. This weekend wasnt as good as i had expected. But I just moved one of my stands into a thick funnel where a major creek and another little one come together about 75yds from a doe bedding area. Getting ready for Nov baby. Well good luck to everyone and hope I can add some more points for us

10-24-2005, 11:47 AM
It's been kinda slow for me. Went out yesterday and didnt see nothing but two waterfowlers walking down the river about 45mins before dark. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif I'll try again next weekend

TexasDeerHunter
10-26-2005, 11:12 PM
I had a smaller buck at 16yds on Saturday along with a couple of doe. I was gonna take him out since he was one of our cull deer, but one of the doe saw me start to draw and spooked them all. I will head back out Friday and hope to capitalize. Good luck team.

remington870
10-27-2005, 04:00 PM

Good luck to ya Addct... as well as the rest of you... I'm hearing that things are startin to pick up a little here... Bucks are gettin swollen necks and chasin pretty good... bad thing though it's supposed to be up in the 60's and down into the 40's this weekend... gonna try some rattlin in a funnel that connects two areas that have a history of producing big bucks... the ONLY place that connects them.... I'm just ramblin now cause I'm excited to get out of school this week to go home and hunt

TexasDeerHunter
11-03-2005, 07:07 AM

Well guys the rut is on to tsay the least. I can't be hunting all week because of school, so I only got down Friday, Sat. and Sunday. Haven't been seeing many deer, really, but there are some BIG rubs around and we know the big boys are there, we have thepictures to prove it. Passed up a young 8 pointer, and that was all I seen.

My borther was able to connect on a nice main frame 10 withtwo kickers. I am guessing he will gross in the mid to upper 140's and def. net 140 something.

RDNKHNTR77
11-06-2005, 09:47 PM
went out this weekend and didnt see much. rattled in a little 6 point but that was about it. saw some monster rubs and hopefully ill be able to get out next weekend to find those big boys.

remington870
11-07-2005, 05:01 PM
i am off the next 7-10 days from work, hopefully i planned my vacation correctly with the rut. seems to get really good this week in years past. starting tuesday am i live in the woods!

tarbaby
11-09-2005, 11:14 AM
School has got me only hunting on the weekends which is startin to tick me off. Last weekend i saw a total of 5 bucks... on nice 8pt with some junk came chased a doe about 30yds away but every time i stopped him there was some brush in the way. This weekend here i think is gonna start off the peak of the rut so I'll try to stay out all day sat. and sun..... (girlfriend permitting) Well good luck to ya all

remington870
11-09-2005, 10:46 PM
been seeing my fair share of deer, and most of them bucks. I finally saw one i liked but shot over his back, shot him for 40 and afterwards ranged it and it was 35. The arrow went right over his back. Still got 5 or so more days of vacation to try again and it is supposed to drop big time in temperature, back at it in the morning.

11-11-2005, 02:28 PM
I'm only getting to hunt on Saturdays around home because of work, so things have been slow for me. I'll be leaving after Thanksgiving for a 10 day hunt in Illinois, so I hope to score a big one there! Good luck guys!

remington870
11-11-2005, 07:19 PM
PAYDAY, shot a 9 pt this morning, will only count as an 8 for this contest as one of the points is under 1 inch, i will post the pictures sometime tomorrow. seeing as how i live in a 1 buck state that is the best i can do for our team. he is not the biggest racked deer i have ever seen but he was a full bodied mature looking deer.

tarbaby
11-12-2005, 05:17 AM

Well I have been a ghost around here so I figured there was need to check in. I have shot a doe, a spike , and two management 8 points in the last two weeks. I will get the pic and tag posted tonight. Good news is that I have one Texas tag left to fill and I head out to Kansas in about two weeks to try my luck there. Oh yeah, the most important thing: I heads to to hospital in the morning at 4:30 so they can induce my wife to give birth to my baby girl tomorrow. I will be out for a while but hope to check in soon with a better buck. Good Luck guys and God bless.

Hey guys, I was finally able to score on a nice doe. I know it is only five points but five is five.

But I am gonna wait to enter it because I know I can get better. If not I will enter in the end.

hey remington, wheres abouts in ohio is columbia station? im in thompson which is in northeast ohio in geauga county. we have 100 acres in coshocton county and the deer hunting there is unreal. maybe u could come down for a hunt one day.

remington870
11-17-2005, 07:12 PM
columbia station is in lorain county. i am in the bubble that almost connects cuyahoga county. i live on a street that i turn left and i am in medina in less than 1 mile, turn right and i am in cuyahoga in less than 5 miles and go straight i stay in lorain county. I would love the opportunity to hunt but not sure it will be possible this year. My buddy is getting married soon and for gun week we head south for a few days, plus i have a 2 1/2 year old boy that i need to spend my other time with. Maybe we could work something out for a spring gobbler?

sounds good scott. i have shot 2 turkeys down there in the last 2 yrs. this past season i got one with a 10" beard, 20 lbs, 1 in spurs. but i tell ya what, the deer hunting far outwewighs the turkey hunting down there. maybe next season. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well, last Friday night bowhunting I seen a couple nice bucks. It was getting dark and I had another NICE one coming right to me got within sixty yards and spooked. not sure if he heard the deer behind me or seen the one doe, or maybe he winded me. Not really sure but it sucked. He was def. 3.5 to 4.5 year old deer. hopefully will have some luck gun hunting this weekend.

I have a nice piece of private land that is real thick with cedars i might try out. Thinkin some hunter might be pushing deer into there. Well good luck to everybody else.
