OK guys. Lets get some morale here. Lets hear a little noise. We've got a couple kills which when entered will put us ahead most teams in points.

I've been seeing a lot of deer and have 4 days off this weekend and plan to whack another doe and then concentrate on them horny big boys. The bucks are gettin a little randy, which is good. But that'll put the does on edge.

I'll check in through out the weekend.

I'll get the pics posted as soon as I can. Ya seeing scrapes around and that buck was sure smelling alittle rutty, saved the tarsal glands. Couple more weeks and things should be in full swing. I'm going to let my dad hunt my rut stand this year and see what he can do.
Good hunting this weekend!

Awesome signature, would you hook me up? Not sure how to get an image on it.

Got out Wednesday evening and saw 8 does and fawns. Only one button buck in the whole bunch. Maybe a good crop of does for next year. If it were the weekend I would have taken a doe. This weekend should be good. All the corn and beans are almost out of the fields. They should start moving around looking for food and new cover. Good Luck Everyone

Hey guys!!!Love the name.Hope we can all live up to it,LOL!!!!!Things are fixin to pick up around here soon, real soon.I was out wednesday and never made it to the stand by firstlight, not by choice, there were already deer there and I had to wait them out.I was squatted about 70 yards away watching 3 does.It was about 20 mins before first light.About 10 mins into my wait I see a big deer come out and could make out some antlers, the three other deer scattered when he got close to them..It was alot bigger than the does but not sure if it was a shooter or not.He was there for 5 mins or so and turned to go back from where he came.As shooting light approached all the deer left and I made it to the stand.I had two more does come out about 30 mins or so later.Seen six in all,I just wish they had of waited till I was in stand before they showed up.Maybe next time. Can't wait for vacation to get here.Got two days off before the gun opener and the first day if gun season. Then a week of during mid NOVEMBER!!!!!!!!!!Can't wait!!!!Good Luck fellas!!!!

I was out on Thursday afternoon after work and had four does come in just as dark was approaching.I was stuck on stand for about 20 mins after shooting light ended. One of the fawns wouldn't shut up.All it did was bleat and bleat and bleat some more.It was kinda funny listening to it.They have also been urinating alot and leaving lots of droppings around.Good to have some fresh doe scent all around my stsnd,I hope they keep it up when the rut nears!!!!!!Won't be able to get to the stand again until wednesday,Can't wait.I know he's going to come through one of these days.

I got out last night for the first time in a week. Everything felt right. Wind was in my favor. I was on stand early. Saw three right off the bat a doe, yearling and a fawn. Then during that golden last hour of daylight I heard crunch crunch crunch thru the oak leaves. Out pops a 6 point, fairly decent one but not a shooter at this point in the season. He starts looking behind him and I just new the big buck was back there somwhere. All of a sudden I here running deer all over behind me. I'm super pumped assuming its a buck chasing does. BUT NO, its a stinking bulldog and a black lab running deer. Man was I pissed. I have never seen these dogs before. I got out of my stand and whistled. They came to within 20 yards and froze. The bulldog started growling so I came to full draw and they turned and ran. I chased after them thinking I could scare them bad enough to make them not come back again. I was dissapointed it ruined my hunt. I'll give it another shot this weekend. Good Luck everyone.

My pictures will be up as soon as the film people get done devoloping them and put them onto a cd for me.
I did make it out yesterday and had a guy stop his car on the road, get out and scare off the deer coming my way. They were in a cornfield coming into my woods. Not sure if he knows I'm there or not http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif.

iabow
10-28-2005, 10:10 PM
Well I was sitting there watching the cars go by waiting for the last hour of daylight. When at 4:47pm a truck suddenly hit the brakes. I looked over to see why, thinking maybe does. I grab my bow and hear crunch, crash, crunch.
O My Goodness http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif, I had the second biggest buck I've personally seen 5 yds out under my tree. He was a massive 10 or 12 over #200 deer. I wouldn't be able to put my hands completely around the main beam at the g3, let alone the base and I have big hands. He was in my life for all of 6 seconds, running through the woods after almost being hit by the truck. I was going to take some pictures for ya'll but he didn't stick around long enough. I guy I know shot a 170 last year I seen and this deer made him look alittle small. An amazing deer.
On that note never seen anything else but the four point with him for the rest of the night.

I have only been able to get out a couple times lately. The other day I guestimated the yardage wrong on a nice doe and missed. She had a small buck by her showing no interest. I certainly tore that leaf up though, know any good recipes.
Well I think I got my nephew hooked, he is 10, and keeps telling me the days he can go again. I am going to take him with to check out some new timber. My grandma was at the hospital talking to some guy about hunting when another lady said that she wanted someone to come out to her farm and shoot some turkeys, cause they are so thick. My grandma got her address and number, I called her and received permission. Going to have to take grams out to dinner or something.
I heard it's about to turn colder here shortly, so maybe that will help things out. I know alot of geese have been coming down. Well guys good hunting, hope you get a monster.

iabow
11-14-2005, 05:01 PM

I shot at him at 6:30 right at legal shooting time. I walked to the spot of the shot about 15 minutes later and did not see him so I went back to my blind. At 9 I went back and walked into the woods and found some blood and followed it. It was probably 9:30 when he ran by my father in law. I would guess he is ok. Hopefully he will come back this weekend. Temps are suppose to be really cold finally.

Well I harvested a little button buck barely had any nubs at 4:30 today in the city parks deer management program(suppose to reduce the deer herd). Not the biggest deer but he'll be tender that's for sure. Shot him at 25 yds and he fell at 40 from the tree. Cut the heart almost in two, perfect heart shot. Man I love being in the tree when there's a little snow on the ground and it's cold. Things are so crisp and clean, really peaceful, less people out and can see alot better.
Just realized I have about two weeks before my first time hunting shotgun season begins, going with my uncle and a couple of his buddies that invited me, looking forward to it.

Hey guys. I just got back from a week in northern Michigan. Shot a six or seven pointer on Nov 15th. I still have to put a tape on one brow tine to see if I can stretch out another point for us. Season was slow in the UP of Michigan. According to the bridge count the numbers were down 34% for the second straght year. Seems like a pathetic trend to me. I still have until the end of December to upgrade in points. But I'm real proud of my buck. I'll get some pics up real soon. My dad has the pics on 35mm as I fogot my dang camera. Good luck

Well my season is over without my pulling the trigger. I saw all sorts of big bucks with a huge nontypical that was at least 14 points. However these bucks chose to run out in front of me while I was driving my truck or car. I almost hit three in the past week.

But while hunting I only saw a small basket 8 pointer and several does. I was lookign for the big buck that never showed. Although the kids shot a couple of does for the freezer. That's what makes the season a success for me anyways.

Good Luck on your seasons!

Hey guys! Sorry but this year was a bust! I had two weeks of rifle season to hunt but nothing to show for. This state is really messed up with the deer numbers. The deer were not around. But I did see a few bucks, but none ever gave me a good shot. Including a very nice ten pointer! In two weeks I only saw two does. Both were well in range, but I just couldnt take any of them due to the lack of deer I seen in two weeks! So I burned my doe tag, it was only the second doe tag I bought in 30 years of hunting.

I tried to help the team, but I got skunked! Hope the rest had better luck than I did!

Nice buck smitteken, congrats. Good looking pup too, we just got a black lab about the same size, feisty rascal.
Well I shot a nice big doe for deer management on the guy’s land I was hunting during shotgun season. Had two trophy class deer about 150 yds from my stand in an open field. One was a tall 12 and the other a nice 10, beautiful deer. Just a little to far for my shotgun. Was told I should have taken a poke but that’s not the way I hunt, don't want to chance wounding one. The ten was only about 70 yds from the shed where two guys were inside getting warm and eating chili http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. All and all my group shot seven deer with two smaller bucks.
Shotgun hunting is alot different then what I'm accustomed to. Deer were running all over the place. It was crazy, almost had two does run me over. I like my bowhunting. Sorry I couldn't have helped the team out more, it's been an off season this year for some reason, mental mistakes that is. Still don't understand how I didn't see that small rack and mistaken it for a doe, oh well.
Now I'm starting to get the itch to talk turkey .
Oh ya seen some big toms milling around in my turkey woods, and this year I can use my shotgun not just my bow http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

Well going to start to do some shed hunting, see if I can find that big boy and show you what he looked like. Just wanted to say thanks to my teammates, even if we didn't win, it was fun for my first time in the contest. Really looking forward to this spring turkey contest, how many of you will be in that? My smallest tom yet is a 22.25 lb, 1 1/8" spur and a 9.5" beard, my lastest one had triple beards10"5"4". Last year I tried just archery hunting them and what an amazing time. Had a Big tom 3-4 yds from me spitting and drumming and though it was my first year not harvesting one it was an awesome experience. Iowa rule change allows me to use both bow and shotgun this year. I have some great turkey woods to hunt, so I'm very excited. Going to use my natural voice more this year and I am looking to get a blind. Well thanks again and good luck.
