It's a movie about homosexual cowboys. I don't think the message is good, and is probibly about as welcome on this forum as advocating gun bans.

Well from what I saw watching the trailer, I don't think too much of the movie at all. Not something I'd want my kids to watch, that's for sure.
Looks like them cowboys are like saloon doors..if ya know what I mean. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
Can't seem to make up there minds whether they're going in for a drink or leaving the bar.
I don't think I'd want to go camping with either of them. They need spiritual help and so does the producers of that film.
I don't think it's a movie I want to watch...thanks. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
Just my own personal opinion http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
So what was the "great message behind the movie" ?

I'm not interested in this kind of movie. You asked i told.
Not my type of movie. Not knocking it either..I still have not watched "Titanic" either(The ship sinks...I already knew that)
I'm going to see "Walk the Line" instead. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Watched the trailer...that's all I care to see of that movie. Another fine example of Hollywood cranking out something only Hollywood could love. What planet are these people from? Here's one guy from the midwest thinking if a cowboy put the moves on any of the REAL cowboys I have known, there'd be a prompt and thorough beating administered.
HB
Not on my "To Watch List" either.
Like VT, I'll refrain from typing reasons.

the great message behind the movie that they wanted everyone to see is that homosexuality is okay
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, some great message. I guess it's OK if your gay. I imagine all sexual perverts think what they do is OK, as long as they can somehow justify what they do in their own minds.
The age of consent has been lowered to 14 years old here in Canada. I guess that is going to give the paedophiles a green light as well, and with our liberal judges, it's just a matter of time before you see a Hollywood heart wrenching version of Paedophilia love. After all, paedophiles were born that way, weren't they ?? http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif ...yeah...right. What a sick, sick world we live in.
A better Title would have been " Bankrupt Mountain"

I've been wondering when this movie would get some "air time" in here. I haven't seen it and don't plan to, at least not if I have to spend any money on it, but I'm curious about one thing. Do they present any of the negatives that are associated with homosexuality, or do they portray it as a natural and wonderful, though misunderstood by a backwards society, type of thing? My guess would be the latter.

When we went to see Walk the Line...we had to watch the trailer to this film. At first....I thought to myself " this is gonna be a good movie". As for the two stars in this flick, Jake Gyllenhaal (sp) and Heath Ledger......they lost ALL my respect and my viewership.

Oh yeah, it's already nominated for several awards. Including the Golden Globes. But this isn't surprising. There are a few movies with homosexual themes in them this year. "Capote" "Brokeback Mountain" and "Transexual America" ( Or something like that) . They have all been nominated for awards.
But I think the awards are all crud anyway. It's just a bunch of celebs getting together to give each other trophies. Whoop-dee-doo.
I wonder how well these films will do at the PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

jay leno renamed the movie "city lickers". lol. a sick and wrong movie, which of course, hollywood will not only love, but honor. you just watch... it will get an academy award. and, it's the lowest grossing movie of the year. then compare that with the fact that mel gibsons huge grossing "passion of the christ" never got a thing at awards time. hollywood is just pure evil.

It certainly isn't "How The West Was Won", just Hollywood wanting all of us to accept what they think is the way it should be! I will NEVER see it!
It looks like one that I'll probably have to miss..........
One small comment though...............Don't be so closed minded that you deny the fact that homo-sexuality existed during this time. It's been around since the "caveman"...........only difference is that now it's openly discussed.

You know it's kind of funny the way this thing has slipped into "normalcy" here in the passed 25 years or so. You older guys (35+) like me probibly remember a comedy called "Soap". In it, Billy Krystal (sp?) was the first openly gay character on tv. You never saw him sleeping with, kissing or holding hands with another man. As a matter of fact, I don't think it ever even showed him with a male partner, or even gave the name of one. Nor did he really act gay, feminine or otherwise.
That show was almost thrown off the air for the simple fact that he was openly gay. They fought for the character to remain on the show, and he stayed.
It didn't seem like a deal then to me, because it never showed anything. It was, however, one of the first steps toward what we are seeing today in the reality shows where men are openly kissing and fondling each other on national tv.
The only logical step was to put out this abomination of a movie.
This is the direction that our contry is taking until those with values stand up and call BS on it and put a stop to it.

I'll tell ya, coming from a small town steeped in certain things that you DONT do and working as a cowboy for a while, this movie is not going to do well. Don't care to see it and won't. Letterman got a few kicks in on the movie the other night. To be honest with you, I really don't think that kinda stuff would have went too well on a cattle drive. They would have shot the guy making the advance and left'em for the critters. To the directors of the movie, COWBOY UP! Seriously!!!!

Sorry markyj987, I should not have made that post. I am just sick of Hollywood trying to tell us that life is just that way. That activity is not normal! It will never be. There is no way for them to preserve the human species, therefore it cannot be natural! Every species has the ability to continue to produce offspring, because there is a male and a female and it takes the two to bring about offspring. Homosexual activity is not normal, nor is it natural!
