Ever Been Banned??

I have been a registered user to this forum as well as Primos for well over a year. So...I go to Texas for Christmas for a few days and when I come home I go to log on to Primos forum.....the screen comes up and say that I have been BANNED from their forum????? It also says for me to contact the webmaster about it.

Now I have never used inappropriate language, never called any names and I don't bash people for their thoughts or beliefs.

So I contact the webmaster via email. He replies to me that I was one of a whole group who were banned from their forum, BECAUSE ONE PERSON WHO KEPT CHANGING THEIR USERNAME AND SAYING BAD THINGS TO PEOPLE AND THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO SO THEY BANNED EVERYONE WHO USED THAT internet provider.

He continues to tell me that my account is active and is not banned, but their system won't let me log on because of the IP that I use. The only way to get on for me is to change IP's. I think this stinks!!! They should not punish a whole group because of one bad apple!! Just wondering if anyone else has ever heard of this. I have logged on to my account from a friends pc because he has a different IP than I do.

Its really frustrating because I was getting to be friends with a lot of people there!!

That's just nuts,,, why would they choose to go that route ?? That blocks 1000's of innocent users from their forums... Its ridiculous, I really enjoyed the forum too. I really plead my case to the guy. He gave me his work phone # and I called him and basically he apologized but said that's what they had to do.

I would think that there would be a better way! He said it had something to do with their equipment.

I love Primos stuff and their site and their forums, but its aggravating to try and log on and it says you've been banned.

I understand your frustration indeed... It sounds like they have a very inexperienced web master... Hopefully they find a better solution than blocking a whole ISP...

That's pretty strange. Everyone has an individual IP address, even if they have the same internet provider. It doesn't make much sense to ban everyone with the same provider, just because of one rotten egg.
They could easily trace who the bad apple is and press charges, if he's that much of a problem.

No, I'm DSL. He said this person would just change their email address and come on with a different username and start the same stuff. Evidently it has gone on for a long time.

Anyway I'm glad to have here to chat and read everyone's posts!

When I say I'm banned, I mean banned, it will not even let me look at the forum much less post anything.

There is a code to type in the run window under start. I know it, and use it to change my IP address. Thing is if he does it I am affraid he might not be able to get anything from the net. My ISP does change the IP from time to time even though I am on cable. But with you being on DSL, I not sure how that would work!

Buckee, you're right in that everyone has a unique IP address, but that address is not necessarily fixed. In fact, you usually have to pay extra to get a fixed (or static as it's actually called) IP address. Otherwise, you're randomly assigned an address from a block or range of addresses that are designated to the ISP from the group that manages and assigns IP's for the entire world. And blocking a range of IP's is not unusual. I've blocked off entire countries before to help filter spam.

okbowman - ask your ISP if you can get on a different subnet. Probably not, but it's worth a try.

I got banned from one website. The administrator was talking crap to me about fishing the river when the fish were spawning and saying that it was not fair. He had just been caught 3 days ealier along with 4 other people. They had found out how to run Dish Network to 5 houses off one box. I made one comment about "At least mine is legal and I am sure all your subscribers would love to hear your story about stealing sattelite." 30 seconds later.........banned for life.

okbowman.This is Randolph.You are not banned because of your actions.You are a member in good standings.I'll see what can be done.Who was the one that shared your IP?Did they say who was banned.There have only been a few people banned.Sometimes they do have to block the entire IP.Alot of other people do share IP's with each other.First they send a banning notice to the person who has been banned,and then if that person keeps on they may have to ban the IP,and lose people.They may look into restoring the IP,then pressing criminal charges on the user that will not stop coming on after he has been banned,if he comes back again..As for JimT's comment I assume he hasn't been on there since moderators have been implemented.Your fellow mod,and mine Need2Hunt is the one that led the effort to get us,and we don't have 1% of the problems we used to.okbowman,pm me here,and I'll let you know how things progress.I'm sorry to hear this.I have no control over who is banned or not,we are just the neighborhood watch.

Obviously you have helped, I've gotten a few PM's and rec'd a note from the webmaster over at primos responding to my email about not being able to log on and get my message from him. Ok, I know this is the complaints department and all, but it is also a Realtree forum not Mossy Oak or Primos. Surely you two can work this out on your own email system instead of here where everyone can read about another forum for days on end. I would hope that you would respect Realtree and the forum they pay money to provide. That's just my oppinion.
