I don't know, just a possibility, anybody wanna do a muzzleloader hunt get-together somewhere in SD? The tags are unlimited and you can hunt anywhere in the state. I believe nonresident tags only cost $85. Well, whaddaya think? http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If I'm right, I believe that the bow season starts on Sep. 25 and ends Jan. 31. Blackpowder runs around Dec. 11th-Jan. 31. Does everyone want to do it? Where would you guys want to go? For me, it should probably be somewhere East Riv. 'cause I can't stress my heart with too much walking (I was born with a heart defect). Well, what's the game plan?

Sounds like a great idea. There is plenty of ground to hunt, and for those who want to hunt archery, you can get a state wide any deer tag. If you are curious as to what caliber of deer we grow out here just check out my pictures. Both bucks were taken on public ground, the archery buck was taken in Brookings County.

I usually hunt down in Turner County, but where would we as a group like to go? So do we all agree that this is something we want to do? I'll make a sign-up post right now, if so.

hunted west river all my life. I think part of the decision is do most want muledeer or whitetail deer I personaly try to hunt only muleys.another thing about this hunt is in december it is still pheasant season which opens other oportunities for anyone wanting a couple birds to take home.

Sinnce most of the tags for the muzzy season are antlerless, there should be little trouble gaining access to private land as well. Where are we thinking about doing this? I think like the middle part of the state would be cool, as well as anyplace east or west river. I can get away for about any ammount of time so the location doesn't affect me. The Redfield area has been good to me and I have a decent ammount of ground in Spink County, as well as Charles Mix, Yankton, Turner, Sully, Hughes, Harding, Butte, and Meade. Some is leased ground I have, and other is land my brother and myself own. We are ranchers and have pastures all over. If we pick one of these areas, I would let anyone interested hunt there free of charge as well. I have a friend who owns the land next to mine in harding county, that has a commercial hunting operation for deer, and will let anyone who asks kill antlerless deer. We have about 70% muleys, and 30% whitetails there. Just a suggestion.

to heck with mud lake, just come over to the house and we'll eat a hot breakfast while we let all those guys hunting that public ground run the deer right through my yard. Just pick out the one you want. Don't even have to get cold doing it like that.
Dakota
09-03-2006, 10:50 PM
Well, we'll pro'ly do that. I applied for Sully and know I will get the tags, but I'm going to get a doe (or double doe) tag for Turner anyways. Sully's better when there aren't that many people out there, so we'll pro'ly do Turner first, then.
