Following the curve from "a day is a coming" to "how do you become a moderator," I feel moderators should either be precluded from participating in discussions - or have a second log-in as an individual. A moderator should be a peace keeper and rule enforcer.

Several times I have felt that moderators have gone beyond their "peace-keeping" roles in controlling posts. Buckee's one of those I feel have been even-handed moderators. And, not everyone would make a good moderator. If so, then sign me up for the right side to counter-balance the left.

I've heard about them but haven't looked at them yet. As for beating a dead horse, yeah, I'm getting pretty tired of hearing the same stories over and over on the news. Like the Cheney thing going on, all I heard on the news this morning was "Cheney has remained silent. Cheney hasn't discussed the incident. The White House hasn't commented. Cheney has remained silent. When will Cheney discuss the issue." I mean come on, I may not particularly like the guy, in fact, I rather dislike him more than GW, but the man just shot someone, a friend no less. I read transcripts from the interview, he claims it was the worst day of his life and he keeps replaying the scene over and over in his head when he pulled the trigger and saw his friend go down. I believe it, I believe he feels horrible over it, as any of us would. Just think how he would feel if the man was any closer and seriously injured or killed. I feel for the guy, I really do. I hope I never have to experience the feeling of accidentally shooting a friend while hunting.

As for the Abu Ghraib photos, if they are of the same thing as before with Lyndie England and her other co-horts, whats the point in showing them now. Unless the pics showed even worse things going on I could understand. I saw something on line the other day with pics of some British soldiers kicking, stomping, and hitting some Iraqi teenagers. Somebody in a watch tower took the video and you can here someone in the background egging the soldiers on. Reportedly the teens threw rocks and a fake grenade at the soldiers as they walked by. As far as I'm concerned, if they really did do that, they're lucky they only got their butts kicked and not shot on site before the grenade was found to be fake.

You got that right. I imagine most of those soldiers are pretty trigger happy by now. I think after a few months over there, if I see a grenade coming at me someones gonna be pulling some .223's bullets out some dead bodies.

As for the VP thing. I saw an interview with him about 2 hours ago. He said it (paraphrased) "I pulled the trigger, it's my fault."

It's good to see a politician make a mistake and admit it. Say what you will about the man. I don't think most would have done that.

People who are dieing of starvation are already in their own little h*ll man, they need to hear the story of Mercy, Grace and hope and have their physical bellies filled as well. You should spend more time preaching the Good news of God's grace and Mercy.
Got a little story for ya, that happened to me tonight.
I had to take my wife out to get her hair cut, so while I was waiting, I walked over to Tim Horton's to grab a coffee and a couple of donuts. I came back to my truck and was enjoying my coffee, when a young man, about 17 years old came up to my side of the truck, asking for spare change so he could buy a meal.
Now I've heard this story a thousand times before, and know that 9 times out of ten, the kid is going to go buy some drugs or booze, and snuggle in under the town bridge with it, but something about this kid stuck me, that he was genuinely in need.
I asked him flat out, what he was going to do if I gave him a couple of bucks, and if he was going to buy drugs or booze with it. He said, he didn't do drugs or drink, but had just lost his job. I asked him who he worked for, and he gave me the name of a guy I know, that owns a construction company in town here. He said he was a framer, but when he got laid off, he didn't have enough weeks for unemployment insurance, and had no place else to turn. (He even had this stuffed saint Nick thing holding a staff, in a plastic bag, that he was trying to sell, to buy food.) I asked him a few more questions, like where he was from etc, He said his self esteem, was really, really low, doing what he was doing. I reached in my pocket, for a Tooney(2 dollars), gave it to him and told him to hang in there, and keep looking for work. I also gave him my card and told him to give me a call, in the early summer.
As he walked away, and I watched him go up to other folks in the parking lot and get turned away, time after time. As I watched, I heard the Holy Spirit prodding me, as I have heard so many times before. He said, why don't you go over there, and just take that kid into the restaurant and buy him supper. I sat there humming and hawing, like I sometimes do when I hear that quiet voice, and finally said, yes, I'll do it.
Out of the truck I got and was half way across the parking lot, when I see a guy in a suit, approach the young kid, and escort him into the restaurant...LOL. I walked right past them both, and thought, Oh..geesh. The Lord sent someone else because I sat there procrastinating. Anyway, I turned around and headed back to my truck thinking "man, I sure blew that opportunity didn't I Lord". I got back to my truck, and heard the voice again, speaking to my heart "Your still on, get up to bat"
I got out of the truck again, and headed for the restaurant, where the old fella in the suit was just now walking out the door, after buying the kid a meal. I felt sheepish, in God's eyes
I walked in and the kid was just putting the fixins on his burger. I walked up to him and put a $20 bill in his hand, and said "Here, your going to need this too". The kid turned around and almost started crying. He threw his arms around me and said "thank you so very much, God bless you".
I looked him straight in the eye and said "you know what ?, I know someone who cares about you more than I ever could". The kid says, "God, right". I said, "His name is Jesus, and he cares for you"

He thanked me again and I left.

Now I don't have the foggiest idea, if that kid, knew the lord as his saviour already, or maybe someday soon he will, but I showed him some kindness, as well as the other gentleman before me, and it was done in Jesus name, not my own.

I didn't have to tell that kid he was going to ****. He was already in his own little ****. He needed some food, and some pocket change to get him through another day, and I know the Lord wanted me to give him some Good news as well, otherwise he wouldn't of sent me or the other gentleman, who I'm sure heard the same voice I did. I was a little late in responding though http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif, but the Lord had it covered.

Now, I don't care if anyone calls me a fool, for doing what I did, because being a fool, for Jesus sake, is alright with me.

"When is Jesus coming", ...a better question is when are we going? Could be tonight, tomorrow, a month or year from now, who knows. Are we ready to go ?

You're a class act Steve!! I gave a guy 5 bucks or so the other day, that's all I had on me at the time. He was mentally handicapped, when he approached me in the Wal-Mart parking lot, I always get apprehensive when people do that because I feel vulnerable being in a big lot like that. Plus, I know I have been taken advantage of in situations like that. I used to think I had a sign on my forehead that said "Gullible" Anyhoo, the guy was obviously mentally handicapped, but he told me "I'm not retarded, I'm bi-polar and schizophrenic." I'm thinking to myself, geesh, I'd rather you be retarded than the other, but, I think maybe he feels it is a hinderance to say he is retarded. Anyways, he starts telling me the things he would do for money, wash my truck, cut the grass,(even though it's brown right now), clean gutters etc. etc. etc. Then he told me he was hungry, he was like "If you're hungry you ask for help right?" Like I said, I gave him what I had which I think was 5 bucks. I don't have a problem helping people like that out, it's the other one's we have here in Fayetteville that look healthier than I do out panhandling. I don't give them jack!!

I can't explain the feeling i have right now. i just returned from church in a study on wisdom. And here i see the wisdom that God was teaching us tonight and in other post the wisdom of the world. The grace that God shows through buckee Is heart warming and gives me hope that God's message of grace is helping. Take notice that God was talking to him. Jesus was in the truck with him and the Holy Spirt was ministering to him and guiding him to take action. We have such a loving father who cares for the struggles we have on earth. He cares for those who are just trying to have a quiet dinner and those who don't have anything to eat. He is a gracefull God a loving father who doesn't want that any should perish. Praise you father for buckee and for his willingness to do what you would have him to show the world how much you LOVE. Please bless buckee coming in and going out. Continue to use him to give you glory. And bless the days of his walk on earth. "Turn Or Burn!" tactics make people turn alright but rarely in the right direction. "Preach the gospel at all times, use words if Necessary!" I believe that was John Wesley. Rgardless of who it was though the point is that you live and example Christ first, then you share his love. Unfortunately your post Bornagain, did only a very small portion of that and lacked the unconditional love our savior represents.

By the way, for those of you that feel like TSBH about religion, I totaly agree! Religion too often becomes a tool of people to manipulate others. Or a place to hide while sniping at others misfortune.
However, a Relationship with Christ is not those things. A relationship with Christ is unconditional acceptance and forgiveness, support and encuragement for growth and eternal security.
I will never advocate Religion, I will most emphaticaly advocate a Relationship with my Savior...

Well the reason I made that comment about how people get religious when it's a convienent time for them is because I seen it first hand in combat. I remember when we were bogged down in An Nasiriyah in March of '03, Marines of all ages were all of a sudden turning themselves over to the Lord. Promised to stop doing this and that, stop cursing, stop adultry, start going to church, just all kinds of stuff. I am thinking this whole time, gee whiz, what a convienent time to do that. After it was all over, 99% of them went back to their normal selves.

When our unit was still down in Worcester, I seen it all the time. Worcester is a bum town. Homeless people hold signs up with verses in the bible and I am thinking, "Ok buddy...an tomorrow you will be having sex with a prositute". Some are legit but I don't give in. Maybe I should. I won't find that out unitl I go to **** like bornagain says I/we are. But I do know this, people get religious at times when they need too. But after the fact, most turn back to their old way...in these cases anyway.
