I thought it would be a good idea to get a head count to see how many folks will be going to this great event, and figured this might be the best way. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I need to know what unit we are looking at. I already have plans for a rifle hunt in unit 33 for the same dates. However, my partner is saying he may not be able to go. If he backs out on unit 33 I'll be there with bells on. I aleady have the vacation scheduled so all I gotta do is leave.

The license would depend on what type of game you are interested in taking,,,, as for the camp cost Im not sure, but I don't think that there's one, but I've been wrong before.... http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

HECK, if you find the time and can make it, hopefully we can connect somewhere and finish this flight together, it's sure going to be a long one... http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

You will be very limited on what type of game you can hunt. Big Game: You can buy an over the counter bull elk tag for $496. There may be leftover cow elk tags but those won't be posted until after the draw, which closed two days ago, is posted. Last year there were leftover cow tags only for 4th season. You won't be able to get a deer tag OTC in this unit and there won't be any leftovers unless something really strange happens in the draw. So you are most likely stuck with a OTC bull tag or small game.

as far as camp goes, there will be some free tent space. bring out a sleeping bag & roll it out. food can be had for shared cost. i'll get an actual count of mouths to feed and get the groceries, and we'll all split the cost. rides from the airport are available at gas cost only, which may be 50.00 round trip. or, as things get closer, we'll post airport pickup times and share rides. we'll all just work together on this.

I have a dumb question of sorts.... I'm planning on bringing the Digital Camera along, I have two XD-Cards one is 16 and the other is a 256 meg. I'm sure I will fill these up rather quickly,, is anyone planning on bringing a laptop that has a cd burner in it ?? if so if I brought some disks would it be possible to unload my camera and burn the images to disk ??

I want to make a picture portfolio, that I can upload after this get together so everyone can view some of the scenes... that we are going to enjoy in person.. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Phaseolus (BeanMan)

Colorado Elk draws are now posted.

http://wildlife.state.co.us/Hunting/BigGame/DrawResultsAndPrefPoints/

I drew my third choice "meat in the freezer" tag. Cow elk 4th rifle in unit 41. I had hoped to draw the either sex tag for the same season as a 2nd choice and still get another point since last year there were leftovers. But, hey, I get to hunt straight out of the house and will most likely be eating elk.

Nick, for the RT hunt you will be able to buy an over the counter Bull Elk tag, they are not part of the draw. Just make sure you buy your tag before opening morning. After opening morning you can still buy a tag but you would have to go to a regional DOW office instead of any sporting goods store that sells licenses.

Good luck,

Beanman

Most sporting goods would have licenses, I assume you would get there before the season starts. If not or for convenience you can buy them online or by phone using this link.

[/ QUOTE ]

uhhhh NO.

Actually guys here's the way this elk camp has to work or we all go to jail in Gunnison without even goin past GO:

We can't act as a guide, and we can't pay a cook to cook for the group. If we do either then it's a guiding operation and we dont have a license for that. Each person coming to camp is on his own, which doesnt mean we cant hunt eat or laff together. We have an attractive friend thats the Game Warden in Chaffee County and I sure dont want her lockin ME up.

But heck, it's all still a bunch of fun.

Septober approaches...

It is really lookign good for me to be there! I would love to hunt but like others the funds are just not there! I would love to tag along with someone and vidio tape if possable,[if legal] biggest thing is meeting lots of you, just met Steve Beilgard last week and if he represents the type of people on this trip i would not miss it for the world! Not sure if I will drive down with Steve or head down on 20, all depends on when I can get off work![bosses harvesting]I would love some fishing time and hopefully lots of relaxing time!!
COuple questions, what type of weather are we usually talking about? are we allowed to tag along with one of the guys hunting, or would that be classed as guiding?
Also one more thing noone is to laugh at me couse I will be bringing a air matress,my back is just getting to old lol!

I am still trying to figure out a way to get there. I had to use some unexpected vacation time and just don't have the days to take. I already have a trip planned for a week in November. Then there is the expense of driving. I think it may be cheaper to fly, but it still quite the expense. I'll work on it and see what may be possible.

Buckee... I can still pick you up at the airport on the 18th and we can go eat supper at the new BassPro restaurant in Denver if you want. Shoot me an email to confirm. or call me 719-369-2715. svenska50@hotmail.com

In fact anyone coming to Colo to the RT elk hunt can call me with questions if you like.
