I have had reports of turkeys being seen strutting and gobbling around here, but to tell yall the truth I haven't see or heard nothing

My main turkey hunting grounds is about an hour away... I have 3 trail cams up I plan on checking sometime this weekend and hope to have some strutters. I will post some pics if I have any. I had some birds behind the house up until late summer... hopefully they'll return before turkey season opens.

I have been finally seeing some goood birds around. Man I was really starting to get alittle worried.
I have gotten my vest packed and my 835 patterned all I need now is a big ole tom to strut up to me...

well I went out this morning... me and a few buddys we split up in groups and headed out..... we ended up gettin about 6 or 7 to gobble..... most got hened up but neways we got on one and had it coming in and somewhere inbetween us and him he took a turn and went up around us or something said another guy that was just up the ridge a ways.... then we went to driving the road stoping and calling to see if we might get one that wasnt hened up.... we pulled down an old dim road and i called listened for a min and my buddy hit his mouth call and bam he was right there.... we couldnt open the doors (squeaky) he was so close we slid out the window and tryed to get around him but i think he saw the truck or something considering he was within 50 yds.... but now we know about were to be at in the morning..... I skiped school today and were out tomorrow..... Ill also be out next friday and the following monday so I got at least a little more time to hunt...... during deer season it was a little harder considering that I had to work every weekend and didnt have any days to hunt.... with school.... but i get to hunt these week days that im out of school.....

Maybe ill pull something off tommorow..... ill let yal know how it goes..... Good Luck to all of ya....

Our season goes until May 6th. here in Oklahoma.
I'm heading out in the morning. I wanted to go yesterday and today but work duties had to come first.

well i went again yesterday..... It got dyalight around 6 45 or so and we couldnt get a thing to gobble.... then about 7 or so we got one to gobble..... we took off we called again and some more gobbled...... we were like well thems diff birds there farther away..... we kept at it called a litttle more theyd gobble every time.... we walked a little farther and we setup and called theyd gobble everytime..... they were coming in hard.... then we called again they gobbled but they were gettin farther away.... set there for 20 or so mins thinkin maybe it was 2 diff sets of birds and maybe some might try and sneak in on us..... but nother showd..... we drove around some more and got a few more to gobble but couldnt make anything work..... we ended up hearing at least 7 diff birds..... had to work again today..... maybe ill pull something off next week.....

Well Team I was able to call up 5 Jakes with in 10 yards of me last weekend. I had several bird gobbling on the roost but that was it.
Looks like I'll be heading out in the morning...

went friday and we got about 6 or 7 to gobble....we had 2 right on us that got hened up but the hens was headed right to us and they just stoped at the edge of a hill and went back up the mountain..... so no luck.... we found there roost so we know where to look for them at..... going back monday..... maybe something will happen..... good luck to yal.....

Our season opens next Monday... I plan on taking a couple hours off opening morning and will probably hunt an hour or so every morning before work but most of my hunting will be on weekends. I've only seen one jake and a bunch of hens behind the house but my neighbor seen a two big gobblers a couple days ago so at least I know they are out there. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

just an update... I've called in 4 jakes this week including 3 in one group this morning... Had 5-6 birds gobbling on the roost this morning but the long beards stayed out of range. Unfortunately I can only hunt that place on Saturdays since the landowner doesn't allow Sunday hunting.

Basically this was the easiest turkey hunt I've ever had... I set up on a ridge knowing that the week before there were several gobblers hanging out there. Yesterday there was only this one and more importantly no hens around like the week before.
I let him gobble a few times before I called... I let out a few tree yelps and he flys down within 80 yards of me coming in my direction. He gobbled a couple more times so I let out a few more soft yelps and he came in on a string... 20 yard shot.

Wow!! What a hunt I had. I got my turkey Wednesday may 8th. I will have to mail my pictures to Borch or another member of our team.

My morning started out with a rough night. I was staying at my in-laws cabin (they stay up there most of the summer). The phone rang at 1:45 and rang 3 more times before 2:00. My father in law was called into work. I got up at 4:00 to get ready. I had another person meeting me up there to videotape my hunt. When I walked out of the cabin to talk with him at 4:30 I noticed all kind of damage to the bird feeders??? Once we got into the blind we were discussing the possibility of it being done by a bear. We have not had any sitings of bears before. I love hearing the woods wake up. As it was getting light out we seen a bobcat and got that on video. By 7:00 I got my turkey!!!!

Yeah, my brother was the one to never check in. He did not get a bird this season, none of us did. It was tough, and hard to hunt when there are thunderstorms and tornadoes! lol.
