Well guys time to hide or bury all your non registered guns!!I ahve all mine registered of course! http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif The local police in the Gravelbourg, LAfleche, and Shamrock areas in sask are goin crazy!!It all started the last week of deer season when they were stopping every vehicle with peopel wearing hunting clothes in the local coop service stations, they are asking for regestration permits or be able to prove it if not the gun is gone and you are charged!!There has been 8 confiscated so far in the past 2 weeks in very small towns of 500 peopel or so!! I ahd no idea they were going to do it but I guess the new sargent is from down east [one of the big cities] he has no idea what this is doing with the local police civilian relationships,!! I just was surprized they are doing this when they said they were not going to prosecute anyone yet!!

Yep ..I saw that coming, just wasn't sure which law enforcement officer would pull it off first.
sasksheds...you are supposed to have the gun registraion cards with you at all times, while in possession of that particular gun. It's crazy. I didn't know that either until my buddy told me to read the fine print. I figured the same as you did, about storing them in the gun cabinet.
And it's illegal to get them laminated too guys...don't figure eh.
So..the round-up has begun eh...just what all us (used to be) law abiding citizens needed.
What I don't understand is why are they just confiscating the weapons? Doesn't that cop have the kahoonees to follow through with arrests as well...after all, it is a criminal offence.
Hope you see my point http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Manitoba has still refrained from enforcing the law, when dealing with hunters.

How long can they hold the weapon without prosecuting the individual.

What a bunch of garbage. I think I'll dig out some of my luggage tags, put my reg cards in them and attach them to the appropriate gun cases. That way they'll at least be close to my gun most of the time. What province was that RCMP officer from? Wait, if he's from down east and now stationed in Gravelbourg I think I know.
