View Full Version : We're about to get the government we deserve......

I was thinking on the way in how we are about to get the government we all deserve. We are asleep at the wheel politically speaking and cannot be bothered to pay attention.

The Republicans deserve to lose tomorrow. I wrote my US Senators, Isaakson and Chambliss several times last year regarding many issues....primarily illegal immigration, spending, and the outting of the terrorist programs. Isaakson wrote back (probably a staffer) with a form letter stating he agreed with me on illegal immigration and the NY Times....but it was clear from his writing he had no intentions of doing anything. Chambliss sent back some smart butt reply about how the Democrats are a party of no ideas and personal attacks......I simply replied that they are the party that you, Mr. Chambliss, will be rerporting to so what does that say about YOU? Mr. Chambliss will never get another vote from me.

The Republicans have had control since 1994 and have done nothing with it. The contract with America is dead and they have let our President swing in the wind while the Dems have rallied when the cause was needed. Under President GW Bush, spending (not counting the war spending) has increased more than under any other administration than EVER BEFORE. That's ever since the history of our Country.

For their part, the Democrats have lied, cheated, made our Country less secure in the name of votes (NY Times and other classified leaks), demeaned our President and troups in a time of war, said that our war was not winnable (how about that for our troops morale), said that Osama knew nothing about 9/11 but that Bush did and allowed it to happen, etc. For the love of all that is good and holy, Al Qaeda declared war on the US with their fatwa and Nancy Pelosi (who will most likely be our next Speaker of the House and two heartbeats from being PRESIDENT) had the gall to say that she doesn't think we are at war. I honestly do not see how anyone could vote for a Democrat for these very reasons.

I am ashamed of our leaders...all of them....but I have no choice but to prevent Nancy Pelosi from becoming Speaker of the House by voting Republican....not that I think they earned it.

By the way, if you have kids, I think that you should understand that Charlie Rangle who would head the tax writing committee said that there isn't a Bush tax cut that he would keep in place. That means capital gains cuts, inheritance taxes, marriage penalty for spouses with two working adults, and the coveted child tax credits (not deductions, CREDITS that reduce your tax liability 1 for 1) would all go away under Democratic leadership.

Think about what you are doing and go vote. Ask yourself who Osama Bin Laden would vote for....oh wait, we don't have to, he votes Democrat in his videos he released before the last elections.

If there was a viable third option that would secure our borders, protect our country, prosecute the war on terrorism, and not raise our taxes, I would kick the Republicans and the Democrats to the curb. But there isn't so I will have to go with the party that makes sure we are here.

Consistently there has been a party trying to protect us and that has been the Republicans. Alternately, there has been a party that has done everything to prevent wire tapping terrorists, money tapping, and everything else they can to prevent Bush from making us safer. You gotta ask yourself WHY?

Well written, but you're preaching to the choir. The ones who need to hear it don't come in here and of those who do - no one listens.

There is merit in what you're asking however even within our "realtree party" you'll have those that only partially agree with your stances. The problem today is we are a unity devided by so many little hate groups that it's become impossible to unit as one America.

The days of "Ask not what your country can do for you but ask what you can do for your country" have gone by the way-side and now we're reduced to "What's in it for me"

That right there pretty well hits the nail on the head. Another sad factor here as much as I hate to say it is that some are voting ignorantly for reasons they should be better off to stay at home for. Pretty safe to assume the vast majority of the support for Harold Ford in this state is coming from the voters who are voting on the person for no reason other than his race, which is really sad.

Think that is a given if the dems gain control New. As it stands right now, polls have Corker beating Ford here by just a few percentage points, but the other senate race for this state, I have yet to hear anything. I am voting republican across the board this time around myself as well.

I think that regardless of what is happening in the country we need to vote REPUBLICAN. Why would you want lefty, liberal, pieces of crap to lead out country. To **** with Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton. My state manned up and voted Tom Daschle out the last time around. He was the senate minority leader. If he can go the others can too. There is not a single excuse for any american to not get out and vote, yet on the main page poll 35% of the people that took it don't plan to vote. Thats wrong as well, thats just wrong. God dang it go vote and Vote REPUBLICAN while your at it.

Regardless of party, I think the party that will protect us first should remain in power. Taxes and the rest are just points to disagree over...not our security.

I have seen the Dems do everything they could at the expense of our safety because they thought that the Americans would turn on the President.

As for the Realtree party, it doesn't matter that we wouldn't agree. I took a page out of the Clinton playbook and I would just hunt you guys down and kill those that don't agree with me! http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

We get the government we deserve when out of apathy, ignorance, or a temporary disagreement with the leadership keeps us home. We get the government we deserve when we listen to the mainstream medias constant barrage of mistruths and feel hopeless. Then we stay home from the polls. The result? Clinton

I have to disagree with this. Yes, they should've done more than they did--but they did more than a liberal congress would have done. As you mentioned, Bush got tax cuts passed, No Child Left Behind (not an end-all, be-all, but a good start), and even a prescription drug bill. (Very expensive, but something that the American people wanted). The Republican-controlled Congress and President Bush brought the economy back to what it is today after inheriting the Clinton recession. Unlike the economic boom under Bill Clinton (which was a result of the technological expansion--and Reagan's tax policies of the 80's), Bush and the Congress were responsible for our economy surviving 9/11. They were responsible for the lowest unemployment rate since God knows when.

This is true....can't disagree with it.

And most importantly, get to the polls tomorrow! If you know someone who thinks we can't win and wants to stay home because of what the media has made them believe--drag them with you!

if bush keeps going the way he is now, we may well have hillary as president. fact is, i don't know the difference between a liberal, big spending, left wing republican (bush) and a liberal left wing democrat. i sure hope a conservative will surface somewhere....
