Dang nice shooting Tony! Here are my scores!
10's---14
9's----10
8's----6
Total 278
i assure you JB that your not retarded... http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
you just need practice on shooting form and a surprse release...just work on it...but the main thing is dont get frustrated and have fun... if possible try and find someone in your area that you know thats a good indoor shooter and wring some info from them that you can use...
i have had so much help for so many people its not funny....i have talked to so many pros , that they probably run when they see me coming ... http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
i have talked to Dave Cousins , Mike Braden , Mike Anderson , Terry and Michele Ragsdale , Olympic Champion Jay Barrs , Kale Hueton , Dee Wilde , George Ryals , Jim Despart and so many local shooters ... and im not talking about just saying hi or how did you shoot . i mean specific questions on shooting form and my probs on beating target panic...
Dave Cousins last year at the ATA show spent 25 mins with me helping me develope my release and mental game , just because i asked him....
my biggest help has come for these 2 Coaches Bernie Pellerite and Terry Wunderle .. i have all 3 of Bernies shooter school tapes and his book.. i went to a 1 day class given by Terry Wunderle.. sure it was 150 bucks for the day , but the info i learned in that session helped me a ton...im probably going back then next time i get a chance .. i need serious work on mental game ....
probably the biggest thing i learned this year already didnt come form any pro or hot shot shooter. it came from helping a lady in our shop with her shooting form ...shes not a very good shooter at all . but loves to shoot with her husband and boys each friday night .. by helping her with her bow grip i realized that my bow grip was to tight...
wala.... a new insite to my shooting form , and when i was missing all those deer during bow season a friend told me to find the 10 ring on the deer and shoot for it... gosh that made it so simple to do.. and i made a great shot on my doe...
im not a know it all, im learning a lot each time i shoot ... and i still have to take this to the tournament arena to find out if i have truely learned anything ...because as we know good in practice is one thing but being good at tournys is a whole differant deal... all though it shouldnt be differant at all it should be the same....
sorry i ran off at the mouth here , but i love to talk about shooting and shooting form ....im waiting for my laundry to dry so that i can go practice ...
see ya

You guys look like you're having fun with this. Got room for any newcomers? I'd be happy to join you. What target are you using - diameter of the various rings? I'm hoping this isn't restricted to outdoors; it's a bit chilly here now. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Thanks, C2

12-21-2004, 02:16 PM
Never mind. I think I have a timing issue and need a cable twisted a time or two. My first 15 shots at 20 yards were all 6" to 7" high. I tried a creep shot (isn't that a way to tell if you need some adjusting?) and completely missed the target high. I was almost 10" high at 10 yards. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Thanks J.B. - I printed off a copy.
But just to make sure the dimensions are right, can you give me a quick measurement, say the diameter of the black (8 ring)? Millimeters would be good, but inches if you don't have a metric ruler handy. If my copy is wrong, I can use the photocopier at work to adjust the size. Thanks, C2

Hey Ryan....looks like you need to tweek your sight.....you are shooting just a hair left.
Here is a tip for you to get sighted in even closer.....get some of those bright-colored stickers, that are about 1/2 in diameter, and place them in the center of the target. (or use a black dot) Anyway, aim for that dot and I guaruntee you your groups will tighten up!! Right now you're aiming for that huge white circle....aim smaller..... http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks Ryan, I know I just got it to where it is now in just a few minutes! Ill fine tune it and get it right this weekend!
hey guys this i a completely informal league.. shoot any time you can and just put them in.. it doesnt matter if you shoot on once or twice...the main thing is just to get people to participate when they can...
at the end i might give out a gift for the most improved shooter or something like that ...
i shot mine wed night and i shoot well again..i used an orange pin and it seemed to help but i think the black one made me feel more comfortable...
im used to shooting for the cenetr of the white not the center of the black..
heres my score....149 + 149= 298... i had a couple of shots off due to sighting in my orange pin for my scope so i did shoot 6 practice shots...once you get a suck hole started its hard to stay out of it.. like on my second target..

OK, so here's mine for this week. Things were cruising along just fine, and then I tanked a couple shots. I especially disliked the 8 that I acquired on my very last shot of the day - target score 98 (bottom target).
In order, they are : 99, 97, 98 -> 294
BTW, I set up 3 targets and took 10 shots at each, so I could shoot 3 shots each round. Do most of you just use 2 target faces at a time?

am I the only one shooting from 30 yards???
[/ QUOTE ]
LMBO Yea i guess so!
According to my rangefinder im shooting right at 20 yards!
After reading these threads, I downloaded the "ammoman" pic and shot a 30 shot round Saturday. I shot at two targets--15 each---3 at a time. My first 15 I shot a 145. The next 15 I shot a 141 for a total of 286.
Shot again today and shot a 281. 141 on first group and 140 on second. I shot 4 8's this time around. Wind was blowing a litte and it was a lot harder to hold on the white.
If ya'll don't mind, could you post my scores with yours. I don't want to compete for Tony's title http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif since I'm late on the sign up, but I do want join the league.
Thanks,
Kevin
well it looks like we might have a tie this week.... http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif i shot 294... http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
just made a couple of poor form shots...
i most of the time just use 2 targets.. but i only shoot 1 arrow at a time in each one .. i dont want to ruin my pretty 2613s for indoor... http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
get your scores in by tonight ....

Yea! I would love to see more people join in!
spent some time shooting with a local pro last night..due to the snow storm we didnt have any one show up for league . then a guy called and said he was in the area and wanted to know if we were open i said sure come on in..
well as soon as he walked through the door i recognized him as Greg Beman from B&B Archery from Davenport Iowa .. he explained that he was stranded in the area , because of the storm and wanted to get in some practice
that gang from B&B Archery has some tremendous shooters , some of the best in the state so it was fun for just me a greg to shoot all night..
he gave me some pointers to work on and i could see a geat improvement in just a few shots.. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
so i have to open the shop tonight and friday because the owner and his wife are headed to the ATA show in Indy...
martin said hes coming in and will shoot the Ammoman target for score to join in our league competition...
Shoot Strong
Tony
Jb you will find that you will develope your own order when you shoot.. i start out with the top left, then the top right , then the middle , then low left , then low right ..
but you can use whatever way you want to shoot them....

OK crew, besides Ryan and me, are we going to have a few scores posted this week? Hope so. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I shot 146 149 -> 295
Almost aced the second target, but no cigar.
Next week, different story http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Shot 289 today....146 first 15 and a 143 the last. On my last shot, I knew I needed a 10 to hit the 290 mark but shot a solid 9. Weather was colder than I would like and the wind was blowing about 5 mph. All in all, pretty proud of my shooting.

J.B. and MCH, that's nice shooting for being in nasty conditions. Good going.
Thanks, Canuck. You didn't do too shabby yourself... http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
i just got back from the Iowa Pro/Am and i shot my score tonight.. i shot really well but i didnt shoot good at the tourny... http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif which is normal for me...
so my league score for this week is 297....

sorry guys i didnt get to shoot this week ... i just fell aslaeep at the switch.. congrats to Canuck 2 on some great shooting.....
i will be shooting tonight to get back into the fray.... http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
good luck to everyone...
i shot my score last night and i shot very well..298..
im getting very comfortable with this target.. i cant wait until i get my 6X lens.. i should be really able to see then ...
yea its takes a little while to get used to thet Ammoman target.. i sure wish we were shooting at a five spot..
best part is JB that when you shoot the Ammoman target and then go to a 5 spot the white looks really huge ....
take your time with the scope bud it can freak you out if you see to much pin movement..remember a big dot is better than a small one .. that way you have less perceived movement and will make it look like your holding steadier.....
Not getting any scores in this week. Dropped my bow off at the shop. The serving is coming unraveled down by the cam. Hopefully, I won't have to buy new cables.
Will get some scores in next week(fingers crossed).
Canuck2
01-29-2005, 10:53 PM
You guys are right - the 5 spot targets are really nice to shoot. But the Ammomans (Ammomen??http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) are cheaper, by a whole lot.
OK, back down to Earth again this week. Had to shoot my back-up bow, a mere Mathews. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Like MCH, I had some serving problems with my regular bow.

Well i went out yesterday and shot a personal best..288..i was shooting at a 3 spot target.
Canuck2
02-04-2005, 10:23 PM
Bucknut, the 3 spots have smaller corresponding rings than the ammoman targets. Youse done good. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
DJR, looking forward to having you join in.
i shot saturday and i shot another 298....i dropped a 9 on the last shot.. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
i have found that this target we are shooting is helping me for my 5 spot shoots.. i just shot a new best of 300-58X friday night... http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Great shooting Tony!
Let's just hope it helps you out in 3-D. You've got a revenge shoot coming up in August.... http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
As for me, I'm not getting scores in this week either. I got my bow back Wednesday. Finally got to shoot it yesterday. Shot it for 15 minutes and was getting pretty good results. By the time I was through, I only had one arrow with good fletchings left. So I spent last night stripping them down, which is pretty tenuous with E-Z Wrap on them.
Saturday, I go to Paris, TX for their 3-D shoot. Hopefully, I'll get some scores in while practicing.
Well just got back and shot a 240, and you dont want to see the pics of the target!! I was all over the place . That little target is hard to see!! I might have to get a scope LOL .. Oh well gives me something to do and I think I can get better.

DJR, good for you. Nice to have you in; you've got a good starting point to challenge yourself from now.
Super shooting, Tony, both the ammoman and your 5 spot.
This week for me : 294.
my score for the new week is 296.. dropped a few shots i tried using my 6X scope with out a clarifier and i suffered a few 9s... http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
i went back to the 3X and shot clean there after... http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Shot a 287 yesterday. Got back from the road trip to Paris...:), and decided to get my shots in.
It was very windy. I was pretty proud of the way I shot. Could've sworn I had a 290 but not according to my cyphering.

Sorry guys, my computer was out at the doctor shop for the last 4 days getting rid of some nasty bugs. Just got it back tonight. So I was unable to post my ammoman for last week. It wasn't anything to write home about anyway; going to get a fresh one for this week.
Practicing up for the tourney tomorrow. I was solid as a rock. The twenty yard pin seemed glued to the center. Shot a 290!!! Whoohoo!
Had one bad shot the first set. Started getting tired toward the end of the second set.
Sure hope it carries over tomorrow. I've been shooting great lately. I just punch the release every now and then. Tomorrow's tourney is going to be tough. Everyone shoots in the same class.

just couldnt hold steady for some reason...
Boy have I been shooting good lately.
Had to work till around noon today(President's Day). When I got off, it was a beautiful day. So after taking a nap with my boy Chase,http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif, I decided to shoot a little bit.
Scored a 295!! I had one bad shot on the first set like last time, but I improved on the second set.
I came back inside and rested a bit, then went back out to practice my long range. After shooting sets from 50 and 40, I stepped up to 30 and robin hooded my second shot! This is only my second one from 30 ever.
Either the hard work is paying off, or I'm on a lucky streak!
Great shooting kevin.. your turning into a target archer for sure... http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
i have been shooting like dog poop and i dont know what the deal is http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif.. i shot bad in league last night .. i shot a 439 Vegas round out of 450 possible.. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
for some reason i just cant focus or hold steady..i still have a slight sinus infection and a cold.. i wonder if that has anything to do with it ?
i will try to shoot my round tonight ..but if it stinks im waiting a day or 2 and try again.! http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
i found out what was wrong .. i was anchoring in the wrong spot.. it was slightly higher up and forward of my usual anchor.. plus i let my draw length out 1/2 inch ..
i know that thats not the best thing to do but im just cnvinced im not a 28.5 inch draw length.. im 6 ' 3 " inches and have long arms.....
once i corrected this i shot lights out.. i shot my round last night and i shot 298!
back on track baby ! http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Thanks for letting us have a week to dream, Tony!http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Sure am glad that you solved your problem.

Wow, you guys are really going to town! http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
MCH, nice shooting there. High scores, Robin Hoods; you're in the zone!
Tony, good to see you've sorted out the problem and are shooting lights out again. Isn't it funny how little things can change without us realizing it, and they make a huge difference.
I'm out for the week. Had ear surgery on Wednesday and have to lollygag for a few days. No cramming my release hand against my ear. So I'll be back in the fray next week.
i am shooting my new Ultratec at 29 inches and its shooting great.. so i figured tht i would let my protec out 1/2 inch and see what happens..so far it agrees with me a lot...
im going in tonight to play with the tiller tuning on my protec....i just feel that my form is really good but i want to hold steadier...adjusting the tiller on each limb will help... its going to take a bunch of time but i have all night..
i usually just set the tiller to the same for each . but i have been doing some reading and i want to try adjusting the tiller on top and bottom a 1/4 turn at a time to see if i can get the bow to hold a little steadier....

i cant believ it .. my old buddy that showed me how to shoot is back into shooting again ! http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
this guy can seriously shoot..he won the Open Class for the IBO Heartland Triple crown in 3d and is a awesome shooter at spots as well...this is what used to drive me to shoot so much.. to be able to beat him , even though i only ever beat him twice... he always put pressure on me to shoot and now hes back..
so the first day he sets up a Hoyt Turbotec and gets everything sighted in.. then he proceeds to whip me good at a 450 vegas round.. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
then he whips my good again in league tuesday night...but i loved it because it made me bear down and concentrate.. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
so friday night hes feeling cocky and we shoot off for a 300 5 spot round...he shoots 20 X the first game and i had just 18 X.. i then turned it on and only missed 1 more X out of 40 shots.. so i shot 300-57X and he shot 300-55X.. not bad for his first 300 , 5 spot round after a 2 year layoff !
but the thing is i have never had such great concentration ever .. i was totally focused on just making 1 perfect form shot after another... nothing else ever entered my mind.. i will say the last 5 arrows were kind of tough but i made them ..
im so glad hes back..i cant just express how much i needed that tight competition in my shop to make me shoot better...
Thanks Jason ....

Tony, that is just so cool! I can tell it pleased you immensely to have your old buddy back. Obviously he's had - and continues to have - a very strong influence on you. And you have shown yourself how high a level you can reach with the proper mind set. Nice going, man. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Haven't been here much lately - more like feeling like crawling under a rock. Improving now and will hopefully shoot for score by Sunday.
Not so proud of tonight's shooting....285.
I purchased a dozen new arrows off the internet. They appear to be about 1/64 of an inch longer than my old arrows. I shot them at 30 last night and a few of them appearred to be grouping left. At 20 however, they seemed to be on.
Today, they were grouping right at 20. The wind was blowing to the left. At times, it would move my bow. I think subconciously I was pulling right to offset the wind. I tore up the right 9 and even landed two 8's.
I've got this week off, since there's not a tourney nearby. I might go to the pro shop and shoot in their indoor range.

Well, I just shot a sizzling 291. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif I have more excuses than Carter's got kidney pills, but I think I'll just sulk instead.
man where do i start .. ammoman score was 295.. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif i shot an 8 ! yuck... http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
oh well it was fun...
296 here, and I'm happy as a lark...http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Also shot a 300 22X on my five spot. Thought I could've shot a little better. Punched a couple of shots. But I've been shooting pretty good lately.
I hope I keep it up because I'm gonna need it at the Paris, TX tourney.
i will try to figure out where our standings went... some how they got deleted.. not by me .... http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
if some of you want to keep shooting go ahead.. but im going to hold off on posting them until i get the main scores back....
seems that they cant find our weekly standings post.. so if you guys want to continue let me know and i will start a new post.. but the indoor season is getting ready to close..
it seems a real shame that it got deleted some how...oh well congrats to those of you that won a couple of weeks .. thats some great shooting.. i wanted to adverage the scores out but i cant now...

No matter, Tony. It was fun regardless. I think a lot of us are switching gears about now anyway and heading off to 3D. I no longer have a pin set at the ammoman distance. But we must do this again next year - perhaps start even earlier. Thanks for looking after it. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
