Found my first shed of the year.I was very surprised to see a shed so early. It seems to be only a day or so old.Still has some skin and hair around the base.Fresh bark also on the base.It scores around 64 B/C gross.4pt with a 2" kicker near the base.26" main beam. http://www.realtree.com/img/500/1142704_shed_001.jpg

I actually know someone who did that a couple of years ago he shot an 8 point in late december, when it dropped one side fell off and when he grabbed it to drag it the other one came off as well.

Great find. Especially this early. Is this the earliest you've ever found one up there?

Yep its the earliest i've ever found one from a fresh drop.I've heard a few reasons why he shed his antler so early.1.he may not have been in the best health and highly stressed from hunters,predators,etc.2.mature bucks drop their antlers first.3.something to do with the rut being over and something causing the antler socket to dry out and the antler drops off.Anyone ever hear the same reasons or know why they would drop their antlers so early?

Ive heard the first two and believe them, but have never heard the third one? Last year I saw a half racked buck on Dec. 21
