Ok, I'm almost 18 and will be voting in the next election and I want to do some research on the candidates. Can anyone give me some general info on some of the candidates so I have an idea?

Good choice to get informed before you vote. Let me give you my opinion on the general differences between Conservatives (usually Republicans) and Liberals (usually Democrats).

Conservatives oppose abortion on demand, Liberals support it.

Conservatives oppose gun control, Liberals support it.

Conservatives oppose higher taxes because they believe average citizens know how to best spend their own money. Liberals support higher taxes because they believe that government knows whats best for the citizens.

Conservatives oppose gay marriage, Liberals support it.

Conservatives believe in a strong national defense and the aggressive use of force against anyone who is clearly our enemy. Liberals believe our enemies hate us because we're mean to them and if we change our foreign policies, that enmity towards us will go away.

I could go on and on much longer, and will if you ask me to, but that should be enough to get you started. Welcome to the wonderful world of politics! :D

and what an interesting world it is, you should hear some of the interesting things that go around a southern california high school.

I read about Duncan Hunter and his website says he strongly supports the 2nd amendment, and also he wants to give gov. subsidies to produce ethonal. I kind of like any thing that slows pollution. In CA we have grey domes of smog over all our cities.
Is there anything about him that I havnt read such as big scandals or something that sortof is a red flag?

Ya might wanna dig around in San Diego and his connections with Duke Cunningham. From what I've read over the past two months, Hunter may be more deeply involved than was first thought. Sorta like the Clinton's WHITEWATER REAL ESTATE deals!

I would be automatically skeptical of any political message coming out of academia. Take a look at the last line of my signature. ;)

It is good that you asked for information and are looking to learn about the candidates. Learning where the candidates stand on issues important to you is very important and should be looked at closely by ALL voters.

Its sad how things go on here. Someone sees a radically libral video and they believe it because it's the first thing they see. It's great how I've been able to turn even some of the most libral kids with facts. There's a light in the darkness though. NOBODY likes Hillary!!!

the nra posts annual results on how all the candidates vote. as a hunter you might want to check how each candidate is on the gun issue, and go from there
