I'm all for gun rights & of course hunting rights. I'm an avid hunter been one all my life, but I just read this story & its made me FURIOUS!!!!
That hogzilla that was just recently shot wasn't a wild pig at all. It was someone's pet. I know their were no game laws broken, but to buy a farm raised hog & let it loose on a 150 acre fenced in property then shoot it with a pistol & chase it for hours is NOT hunting in my book. Then to make up a BS story & pose with it like you really accomplished something for national press is pretty sickening. I'm more angry with the father instead of the kid. Its stuff like this that gives hunting & ethical hunters a black eye.

Looks like the plantation was at fault and not the kid. As best I could tell, the kid didn't know that the pig was someone's pet.
This is one of the reasons I simply refuse to hunt any of the plantations or outfitter based hunts. I know there are good ones, but many do junk like this.

If your going to be angry, be angry at the Plantation owner who bought the pig and released it. The Father and the Son, have not been proven to be at fault here, nor have they been proven to have told a BS story, like you stated. As far as they knew, they were hunting a wild pig. If the kid thought he was hunting a wild pig, then as far as he's concerned, he got himself a trophy. :) You can't take that away from him.
You know what bothers me? ........It's when us hunters, start spreading lies about another hunter on the internet, just because we're angry about something, before hearing all the facts. It just ain't right.:( We are our own worst enemy sometimes.

Yep, the kid did not have a clue, his father from the sounds of the story might not have known either. Had the people who sold the pet pig to the ranch owner or manager not ever come forward and told the truth noone ever would have known other than those people. Shame in my opinion that some hunters are blasting this kid and making a big deal out of this.

I never trashed the kid, but I DID HEAR ON THE RADIO this morning that the father may have know it wasn't a wild pig & he was in on a publicity scam with the plantation owner.

I think the best comment I've read on this thread comes from buckee, the one about hunters spreading stuff on the internet, most of it is unture and only add fuel to a fire that is already roaring.
