I have a Kodak Easy Share Z740.
All the deer that i take pics of are about 300-400 yards away. I was wondering if there is a zoom lens that i could buy that would take good clear pictures. I dont need a very big one but i do need something to zoom me in a little farther and get clear pictures. thanks for any help.

You have two choices.
#1--get closer to the deer, or #2--get a camera that will handle a 300 to 600 mm lens.
I think Bill will back me up on this, wildlife 300 to 400 yards away is waaaaay too far for the normal camera.
Big o'l zoom lenses, or even fixed lenses in that category (if you want them to go down to like f 2.8 or so) cost in the thousands for quality glass.
It's easier, more fun and cheaper to try and get closer.

I would love to try and get closer. They are not on my land though. They are on my neighibors land that butts up to mine, I could try sit on the edge mine and his and try to get them. They are in a bean field.

I know this is not an SLR camera of sorts. But the current lense and zoom power is:
Lens
38–380 mm (35 mm equivalent)
So he is in that 300 mm range. Just barely but he is there. Now you will need a tripod to hold the camera still enough to take a picture that you can view. But I think you can take some picture with your camera.
I believe I have an older model of that same camera and with a tripod I have taken some pics of deer 300+ yards away.:)
I will check later tonight.:)
