Looks like we got a great team here! :D To introduce myself my name is Nadine. I am a 22 year old female hunter from Pennsylvania. I'll only be hunting Pennsylvania this year in the archery and rifle deer seasons.
Below are my planned extended hunting trips for the year. During these trips I'll be unable to get online at all until I come home. I may come home early if it's too warm and we have some deer harvested that need to go to the butcher/taxidermist. If that's the case I'll try to peek in and at least let you you all know what I got. ;)
Archery Deer (WMU 2G) - 10/26 to 11/10 (Home 11/11)
Rifle Deer (WMU 2G) - 11/30 - 12/08 (Home 12/09)
I'll also be hunting another hunting location this year that is closer to home. This location will be one those last minute hunt type spots and no set dates that I'll be hunting it. It is an archery only, Earn-A-Buck area. I have to harvest a doe, no button bucks, first before even considering harvesting a buck. I'll mainly be only hunting Friday evenings and Saturdays only. It's on a military base so if their alert level goes up at any time hunting is closed down immediately. Heck they come out in the woods and retrieve you from your hunting spots with loud speakers and helicopters and make everyone go home.
Archery Deer (WMU 4C) - 09/29 to 11/10 & 12/26 to 01/12
Here are the tags I have the ability to fill this year in both archery and rifle deer seasons. I doubt I'll completely tag out, but, all these tags give me a lot of range on where I can hunt for deer this year.
1 Statewide Antlered Deer Tag
1 WMU 2G Antlerless Deer Tag
2 WMU 2G DMAP Antlerless Deer Tags
1 WMU 4C DMAP Antlerless Deer Tag (Archery Only)
-------------------------
As far as my suggestions on team names. I'm honestly fine with any team name we come up with as long as it is not crude of course. Here's a few suggestions of names of teams I've been on in past deer contests or teams I just liked the names of.
Team Double Take
Team Realtree Assassins
Team Antler Assassins
Once we all agree on a team name I'm more than happy to make the team a signature. I made them for teams in past hunting contests on here and enjoy making them. Only thing I won't do in team signatures anymore is animations. I find they annoy people when too many individuals from the same team reply to the same post if their signatures animate. So, I avoid the animated signatures anymore to be considerate to other forum users. ;)
Some examples of my work from previous years hunting contests:

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c92/rhynlim/Realtree/Storage/BEARD-BUSTERS.gif-------------------------
Also if anyone on the team ever needs help getting their images hosted online and coded correctly to post in the submission thread just let me know. I'll host your images for free until the contest is completely over. After the contest is completely over I'll of course remove them from my photobucket after that point. :D

Hello thwack masters! Looks like a great team...hope I can do my part to make us a winner. I only hunt with a bow, but I spend a lot of time in the field and have taken at least one deer for the last three seasons. No big boys yet, but I have my eye on a couple that I hope to get a crack at this season.
One week away from the season opener!
Good luck everyone!

Just north of the Lake of the Ozarks....I don't expect to see much this year... maybe thats a good thing.....I will be out there the 3rd thru the 12th...last 3 days I will pull out the ole 270......I do have an extra 80 acres to hunt to the Osage river.... that may be the ticket....
I'm jealous!!! ;);):D:D:D
Good luck!! I hope ya smoke a big one!! :):)
Ditto! Good luck! :D
Okay after talking back and forth with Craig in a few PM's about the signature. Here's some quick attempts I did inbetween breaks while working today.

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c92/rhynlim/Realtree/thwackmasters3.gif
So, are any of these worthy enough to be our team signature? It's all I got around to working on earlier today and right now. I can try to get some more time tomorrow to round up a few more ideas into signatures if either of these aren't worthy enough. :p

Going to the big management farm this weekend. Me and my grandpa are gonna have it to ourselves. We got 6 bucks that are over the 150 inch mark that we know of, so hopefully one of us gets a shot at one. We got 19stands set up at this point in the season so no matter what the wind will not mess up our hunting. Ill let you guys know how it goes.
-shane
Well, looks like the majority of the members voted for signature #3. That was my favorite one, too. ;) If nobody has any serious issues with signature #3 then we can use that one as the team signature. :D
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c92/rhynlim/Realtree/thwackmasters3.gif
To get this image into your signature simply click the Insert Image http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/editor/insertimage.gif button on the signature edit screen and paste this url into the pop-up box.
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c92/rhynlim/Realtree/thwackmasters3.gif
EDIT: Since, the forums auto-trims long URL's you will probably have to right click and choose Copy Shortcut or Copy Link Location (depends on if you use IE or Firefox on the terminology used) in order to get the true URL to the image. Then just simply paste it (CTRL+V) and it'll appear in full in that pop-up box.
I wish there was some sort of [code] bbcode enabled so I could have prevent the URL clipping to make this easier to get the URL distributed to team members, but there sadly isn't a [code] bbcode enabled on here anymore it seems.
Great signature.....Thanks, Moon :D

Moon Signature LOOKS GREAT!!! Nice work and thank you :D:D
Man, I got skunked last night :( First time I can remember sitting in that place that I didn't see 1 deer. Did see 3 grouse dorking around, so that was pretty cool.
Hope to whack a doe this weekend. I start working on Monday, so would like to get something before then. ;)

Well only 2 more sleeps and I am Sask bound ! :)
Well, tomorrow is the opening day for archery season here. I highly doubt I'll make it out, but, if I do I'll let you guys know how it goes. Good luck to those of you out in the woods hunting already. I'm itching to get out there but having a slight set-back with broadhead tuning and may miss opening day to spend an extra day getting these broadheads flying straight or ditching them for another brand to try.

Well anyone have any luck over the weekend....
Myself nope didn't go out to much still REALLY warm.:(
This weekend its suppose to be cooler :):)
Nope no luck here yet. Been very sick the past couple days. I have a stomach bug of some sort that was going around here...:( Going to try to get out this following Saturday for the day if I'm not still sick, the weather is good, and my hunting partner can get the day off work. So, hopefully I will be able to go this Saturday. I still have my 2-week archery hunting trip the end of this month, but I really want to get out at least once before then locally to give it a try.

Hey Nadine, hope you're feeling better real soon.

No joke about to warm. Looks like tomorrow morning(sunday) its going to be 68 to 70 at 7 am...
I am so ready for cooler weather...
We're supposed to hit 80 today  :(
Well, I thought I was feeling better Friday so I went outside to shoot a little bit and it took me everything to pull the bow back and when I did I just felt so weak and couldn't steady myself at all. Seemed the bug I had really took a lot out of me. So, after talking with my parents decided it wasn't worth going out hunting while still sick and so weak. Plus it would never been fair to a deer for me to pull back and take a shot when I know I'm unable to hold my bow steady.
Good thing I canceled my plans to go hunting Saturday. I woke up Saturday morning at 2am and was sicker than I was all week. I couldn't get out of bed and I think I only stayed awake a total of 6 hours yesterday. I'm feeling much better today, but still feel weak and am not going to push it any. Looks like it's time to break out the herbal remedies. :D I had enough of this bug.
I think I may hold off going archery hunting until my planned 2-week trip that I have set aside. I just don't see reason to push myself in this muggy sweaty weather to go up a tree after some deer for a single day hunt and risk being sick during my 2-week archery trip. I think I'll just do a little squirrel hunting starting next weekend and just shoot my bow in the backyard and be fully prepared for my planned hunting trip and stick to that.
It may drive me nuts to wait until the end of October to go archery hunting, but to me seems more logical to do. So, sorry guys guess I won't be able to get on the board until a few weeks from now at the earliest. I think a 2-week straight hunting period with only Sundays off is a good amount to give me a good chance at thwacking something with an arrow still. ;) Plus I always have my 1-week rifle hunting trip in December, too.

Hey,
Everyone now has the ability to upload their sinatures, directly from your computer, instead of having to host them somewhere, and Everyone now has the 30k limit for their signature upload, (instead of 13.0 k) directly from your computer. Also, everyone now has the WYSIWYG editor, even if they did not before. They can change it back if they want, but everyone now has it.
Everyone can thank Scott and Brittany (at Greyloon.com)
Right click on the picture(signature) and "Save image as....". choose a folder somewhere in your computer to save it in, such as "My Pictures", which is found in "My Documents", so you know where to find it when you upload.
Then go up to the toolbar in the forums and click on "User CP", and "Edit Signature" (upper left hand side in grey strip toolbar)
Then scroll down to "Option 2 - Upload Image From Your Computer" and click on the "Browse" button. Then go to the folder you have the picture stored in and click on the picture.
Then just click "Save Signature" .
That should take care of your signatures.

Got us some points.
Went out after work and hopped in a tree by my house. At around 5:30 I heard a noise in the timber adjoining our property and looked over and saw a deer coming. When he finally appeared I could see he was a 4 or 6 pointer. My first thought was "the freezer is empty" ....and if he gives me a shot I can't refuse...i'll take him. It's almost like he read my mind...lol...he trotted 20yds. broadside and stood there. This was my first chance to use the rage broadhead and I wasn't disappointed. He didn't run 30-40 yds. and he was down. Not a monster...but the biggest buck i've ever gotten.

Alright bowin ! Looks like some good eats you have there.
I stuck-out this weekend, but an 8 pointer got my blood flowing. The problem was my clothes smelt like an old tarp! I washed all of them a few days ago and I guess they where not all the way dry. I knew I was screwed if one came down wind of me.......was not happy to see him stop and work his way back to where he came from....maybe next time

10-19-2007, 09:14 AM
Well the weather has cooled off so I have been hutning about everynight and some mornings.
Watched several little bucks already chasing does. Of course the does want NOTHING do with them but still fun to watch.
I passed about a 50 yard shot on the bent G-2 buck.
http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j289/wshoemate/Deer/bentg2.gif
When I first saw him I thought about maybe taking the shot....but then I said NO. I told myself very early that I WAS NOT going to shoot this buck this year. So I am going to work hard to keeping to that.
He could be something really neat next year if he makes it.
I did find a corner that has a ton of rubs in it, so I'm keeping a close eye on that corner. Im hoping its a matter of time before I see whats making them. :)
A couple nights ago I found a big fresh scrape right in front of one of our food plots...which is also about 75 yards from our shooting house. Still along time till gun season but its promising to see sign around :)
Well hopefully this weekend good things will happen. Now that its gettting cooler does have been added to the menu :D:D:D
Anyone else having any luck or seeing much??

Nothing to it really ... I grunted 5 mins after legal shooting time . I put my call away looked to the right as I turned to the left he was comming around a tree . The shot was 57 yards from the ground hit a small tree that is why I hit him in the neck .
Congrats Maryland...that's a nice buck.

Just need those bucks in my yard start showing a little earlier ;)

Congrats Maryland Bowhunter! Nice lookin' buck...and more points on the board!
I just thought I'd stop in for a very quick post. I'm quite busy packing at the moment, so I cannot stick around for long at all. First things first, big congratulations to Chris on the awesome buck! :D
As far as my hunting season so far, I'm leaving Friday in the early hours of the morning for a 2.5 hour drive to my hunting cabin that we rented for archery. I will probably only setup my stands Friday and hunt some squirrels and leave the deer hunting until Saturday. I'll be staying nearly 2-weeks straight up there hunting for archery deer, archery/shotgun turkey, and small game (mainly squirrels).
If we were to get a deer within the first couple days up there we may elect to have one of the hunters run them back home to our butcher and taxidermist if needed. We aren't the biggest fan of the local butcher up there and with the warm weather and bears all over the place we don't want to risk losing a deer to either causes. If I happen to tag along on the drop-off trip I may possibly get 5 minutes to hop online and give an update, otherwise you won't hear from me again until I return.
I have the capability to fill 1 antlered deer tag, 3 antlerless deer tags, 1 either sex turkey tag, and shoot off a bunch of small game species along with coyote. I don't plan to fill all the antlerless deer tags, I'm trying to save one or two for my rifle hunting trip in November/December, but I intend to use at least one of them on archery if I can.
So, hopefully I can bring us back at least an antlerless deer for the team, if not an antlered one. Wish me luck guys and hopefully I can bring home a good deer and a good story. :D

Man the deer have been kicking our butt this year. The weather has been awful either pouring rain and I mean pouring or the winds have been 80mph and nothing moving. Finally last night a nice 8 point came out of the corn but not with enough light to wait him out. Rifle opens here Sat for 3 weeks and then back to the other province for muzzle loader so hopefully something happens soon. Never seen it this bad before with the huge deer populations we have.

We will be in first once I get my doe entered, I just really thought I would have a buck by now so I didnt enter her, but I will this week, gotta find the tag picture and put it on the computer.
The rut is on full bore here, bucks running around everywhere. Saw 3 different shooters last night. Hopefully I can stick one. I am also planning my buffalo county hunt for 3 week from now with my buddy mike on his property, this will be my 3rd year going and this place holds some monsters. Good luck everyone!

Hey guys thought I'd check in. I'm back now from my archery hunting trip. I had a real good time, but sadly didn't bring any points back for the team. I'm going to get another week to try with the rifle here in 2-weeks and hopefully I'll return with some more points for the team.
I almost had a doe for the team the last morning hunt, but I clean missed the doe. I also had a 3x1 buck the last evening hunt that same day, that would have got us some points for the team, but he hung up 5-yards out of my furthest ethical shooting distance and never came in for a shot. I had a really great time though and had success with harvesting a squirrel and saw turkeys several times, almost had a shot at a turkey with my bow, too. For my first year bowhunting I accomplished alot.
You can read about my hunting trip, if you desire, in my journal post. I also posted some pictures of my father's harvest and my squirrel in there, too. http://www.realtree.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63305&p=792263

HI team...no good news after 12 days in MO. The deer where moving like crazy crazy ! I stuck a good one and I don't know how I didn't find it. I have seen this deer in the past, my guess he was 5 1/2 years old. I saw exactly where the arrow hit and saw where the arrow passed through as he ran off........ just baffled... waited 2 hours before I started looking for him just for the fact I knew he was an older deer....
I'm never deer hunting again lol...
Hey All,
No luck up here yet. Will be doing some rifle hunting this weekend. Hope to see something nice, but really looking forward to the late bow season :)

I do all my hunting from now on in the Hoosier N.F. and it can be tough. Last weekend was opening firearms and did not see a single deer lol.. I will find one sooner or later its just a matter of time.

Well guys the rifle season ended here Sunday and the whole season it just about over and it is one of the worste on record. All the areas around us are reporting the same thing. It is almost like the rut never happened. No bucks, no scrapes no rubs. Saw lots of does and fawns but hardly any bucks at all. I have never seen it this bad.
I finally took a doe on Sat that I will get entered this week for us at least and we have a week on ML left from Dec 3 to the 9th, I plan to take 4 days that week and see if I can still hammer a buck and upgrade.
Man after all the work and I dint know how many hours in a stand this year I am really disappointed. I know it happens some years just cant figure out what happened to the deer does not makr sense for this area at all.

yeah...it was a hard weekend in Illinois. Friday's opener was great...lot's of deer got taken, but saturday and sunday were duds. Noone saw much of anything those two days.
My own personal observation...it seems like the rut keeps tryin to get going, but it doesn't quite get there...like something is missing or isn;t quite right. I don't know...it's been a weird season.
Congratulations BigMoss on the nice doe! :D
Congrats BigMoss :)
Happy Thanksgiving, Thwack-Masters ;)

Congrats on the doe bigmoss ! I just put another little one in the bag myself. I have yet to see anything with antlers walking around in the woods yet but I am close. Good luck all !
Heading up to the National Forest just north of my Dad's for some muzzleloader hunting this weekend and early next week. Hope to get a crack at a nice buck....I think most up there die of old age, so there's some big ones around.
Hey guys I'll be heading up this Friday in the early hours of the morning to where I archery hunted to now rifle hunt. I will stay up there until the end of rifle season which is December 8th. Hopefully I can score a few more points for the team. According to weather forcast it's going to be terribly cold up there and snow is very likely. I always seem to have good luck finding deer in the snow, so it looks quite promising. I'll let you guys know how it went when I get back. :D

Good luck Finn and Moon!!
My hunting has slowed way down...:(:( Kinda was discouraged after such a poor archery and gun season. I had high hopes then nothing and I mean NOTHING panned out. Went lastnight and saw lots of deer but no big buck to shoot at :( but seeing the deer kinda got my blood pumping again:D.
But now the weather is finally turning cold and food is finally lacking so our food plots are starting to get hit hard. Only a month late:rolleyes: but hopefully I can make good of the opportunity. Last night I had at one time 15 deer in the one plot so thats promising.
Hopefully something good can happen this weekend.

Last weekend of shotgun season and I shot this 8ptr. with 7 scoreable points. My only hope for another upgrade is only if I g back to Missouri and try to fill my bow tag. He is a big deer for the small rack, going to make some smoked deer sausage out of him. I sat in my stand for 7 hours Sat. 50 cal. muzzleloader put him down.

I was just looking at the scoreboard, and if everyone would shoot a doe we would be right in the thick of things for some nice prizes.
Indiana only allows one buck a year so I'm taking a break this weekend. I'm still loking forword to going back to MO. to fill my bow tag on this monster 10 ptr. I have been hunting for the past few years.
Hey guys I'm back from my final deer hunting trip of the season. I managed to bring back the team some points. I'm not sure how this is going to work out for the contest, but in this state if both spikes on a buck are under 3" in length they are considered an antlerless deer and use my anterless tag. On the second to last day of the season I shot a spike that qualified as anterless, but both spikes are over 1". So, I'm hoping that I'll get the two extra points for the team out of it, but not sure how that works out. I'll post up the story on the deer in my journal later after I get this deer off to the butcher and get unpacked. Just figured I'd pop in here and let you guys know how I did.

It will count as a buck here as long as the pints are ober the 1" so no problems. Each states regs dont apply

Nice job moon! more points for us...and good eatin' for you!
Going to hit it again this weekend. I'm off til Tuesday night, so heading up to the Federal again...been baiting every day this week to get ready. It's a 45 min drive up, then a 25 minute walk to my stand, so hope it's worthwhile. ;)
Didn't see a thing on either of my stands....a buddy sat in one
Well, my Dad did see a buck that he wants me to shoot by his stand. It's a decent buck with no brow tines. Will have to check that one out. ;)

AND DOWN THE STRETCH THEY COME ! ! DOES THE THWACK-MASTERS HAVE ANYTHING LEFT? Myself, GOING TO MISSOURI OVER THE NEW YEAR WEEKEND WITH MY BOW.....
Good luck to everyone still hunting! My season is pretty much over. My spike was the best I could do for the team. We do have a late archery season after Christmas, but I won't get a chance to get out and hunt it. I will be too busy catching up on things I put off to go hunting all the times I did this earlier year.
Here's the one I'm after.....6 points, we're taking him because he's missing brow tines.

I spent 4 days out in MO. bowhunting with no luck. The weather conditions were great for hunting and fishing in the afternoon. I filleted 16 bluegill for my dad on Sat. afternoon. That puts the official end to my season as I gave it one last try. I may end up bowhunting for a doe for some meat but thats it. Time to see if I can find some yotes.... those yotes are too smart for me so far.....

It isn't about whether you win or lose. That's not what the contest is all about. :(
It's about Team effort and comradeship.
Get that doe entered.

Well, guys I wanted to congratulate everyone on their harvests this season! I think our team did pretty good for having one individual who teased us with a buck and never submitted it or even communicated with the team. Also, I hope you can get your doe submitted Shane, even if it doesn't give us a win, it still shows we all tried our best at least and did some good teamwork. ;) Hopefully I'll be on a team with those of you participating in the Exturkinator's 2008 Turkey Contest or next years Deer Contest! I really had a great time being on this team this year! :D
