welcome to realtree elk!! I would not doubt it but I wonder whay type of hole they had to get it out of lol!! I have bear hunted up there a few years and seen the size of walleye up there unbelievable, jsut knew it was a matter of time! hear of lots of 12 pounders and bigger, down here in the south a 10 pounder is a mounter, fished for 25 years and only got one 10 pounder in the south, quite common up there!

WHat a pig! as far as the hole, we squeezed what turned out to be a 19 pound trout through a 6 inch hole, its amazing how well they slim up if you can force them through lol. THat would be a rush to get a walleye that size, particularly through the ice.

i catch a few 8 pounders every summer! wow fisherguy!! that would be quite the squeeze!!!!!! http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif the biggest fish i pulled up through the ice was a 9lb 5oz northern pike, that was through an 8 inch hole... no problem.... now we have the 10 inch powerauger http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif ... we are prepared for Jaws!! LOL!! http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

ya we walked into a little trout lake on snowshoes that had no real trail into it. We always catch just little trout in there like under 4 pounds so we brought teh hand auger...apparently there are a few bigger fish there. I had to roll up my sleeve and reach down and grab it by the gill plate so i could force it through the hole.

I always bring a galf hook for whitefish...it is impossible to get a good grip on them when they are squirming.

Isn't the current record over 18.5 lbs??? Also a tobin Lake fish from a few falls ago. I could be wrong but if it isn't over 18.5 it's high 17's, that was an older record, now I'll have to check. Regardless 18 is a PIG!!! I fish alot for walleyes, even some Sask Walleye Trail touneys and have never caught one over 11, I've seen some 15 pound + fish caught and they were gigantic.
Sureshot, All of the biggest walleye I've ever seen caught or caught were in the south. Yes Tobin has some Hawgs but it is b/c of the river system, lots of big walleyes in the North Sask but don't overlook Last Mountain Lake and Lake Diefenbaker. Huge walleye come out of those lakes each year. I grew up fishing Diefenbaker every night, saw some dandy walleye taken there. Fished Last Mountain a few times too, great lake for big fall hawgs!

I was wrong, I found that the current record is 18.06 lbs so the 18.3 should be a new one if true, both are huge walleye.

I agree saskman but to me those lakes are north, at least norht of me lol!! About 2-3 hours!I have fished both while camping, at rowand revine[spelling] and a campsite on last mountain can not remember it, seen pics of huge walleye in the stores anyway! I grew up fishing thompson lake, cornache dam, willows dam, and mankota resevour, sure the odd 10 pounder nothin bigger!!
