how they can use the words peckerwood, honkey, cracker and that is OK - and there's no apology given or even offered. It's even OK for them to use the n-word toward each other and they apologize if caught and all is OK. But, let a white do it and no amount of apology is acceptable and they demand heads roll.

I asked that question to a friend of mine in the Air Force back in the 90's who was African-American. Basically he told me that when a fellow AA uses the "N" word, it is a sign of friendship, kind of like, "Hey Bro" or what have you. When a white person uses it, it harkens back to slave days and is a sign of hatred and bigotry. I kept quiet, because there really no way I could come up with a response that probably wouldn't have ticked him off and not kept me from being considered a racist.

My point exactly. The n-word by a white man to a black man IS a sign of hatred and bigotry - just as the ones mentioned above are a sign of hatred and bigotry toward the white man.

Amazing? Anything coming out of the mouth of “The Race King” is mostly stupid.
In fact most blacks when it comes to racism are idiots. This on top of a black city councilman in some Texas town that got into a brawl because he was offended by a white person for referring to money being spent as going into a “Black Hole”.
And it appears that our African-American friends have found yet something else to be pissed about. A black congresswoman (this would be Sheila Jackson Lee, of Houston ), reportedly complained that the names of hurricanes are all Caucasian sounding names.
She would prefer some names that reflect African-American culture such as Chamiqua, Tanisha, Woeisha, Shaqueal, and Jamal. I am NOT making this up!
She would also like the weather reports to be broadcast in 'language' that street people can understand because one of the problems that happened in New Orleans was, that black people couldn't understand the seriousness of the situation, due to the racially biased language of the weather report.
I guess if the weather person says that the winds are going to blow at 140+ MPH, that's too hard to understand.

i just don't like anyone using any slurs. i've never used any slangs for any one. i have lots of folks i don't like on a 1 on 1 basis, but it would never dawn on me to degrade an entire race of people with 1 word.

You mean sorta like when a white kid beats up a black kid it is a hate crime but when a black kid beats up a white kid, it's ok. Or when the African-American community has thier own TV channels (BET) but the white community cannot because they would be labled as racist. Is that what you mean:cool:

You're right PH - there is getting to be some pretty childish whining and complaining.

Sad and unfortunate truth is that often times for acknowledging or mentioning such, it somehow gets twisted around and the fingers get pointed at those who are just saying what they see by those who were wrong in the first place. There has been a double standard for a long time when it comes to this topic. Shame really as it does nothing but add tension. It is way beyond time for people to put things behind them, but so long as equal rights do not really mean equal for everyone and so long as some feel the need to hold a grudge or ill feelings against another race for whatever reason this problem will not go away.

I think African Americans keep racism going. If they would just let it all go and accept everything as being equal most of this would not happen. White people are not to blame.
