Kari had to go to the Health Department and DCF (Dept. of Children and Families) yesterday to get birth certificates for the two younger kids (The originals were in a bag that mysteriously disappeared while we were gone for a week) and then a form so Emma could go to pre-school at a church nearby. While she was in DCF, there of course were the ones there waiting for hours so they could get their WIC or other handouts. Since Kari was there just for a form, they helped her right away basically. When Kari was walking up to get the form, one of the women there for a handout started running her mouth saying stuff like, "Why she get to go ahead of us?" and "She get to go first cuz she white." Kari whipped around and told her to shut her mouth and told her "I don't even qualify for what you're here to get. I'm just here to get a form. I'm the one paying for you to get your handout that I don't even qualify for!!" Needless to say the woman didn't say anything else and Kari was a hit with one of the ladies that worked there. :D
