Our corrupt Chicago Democrat governor is now officially out. Impeached by the Senate by a 59-0 vote. Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn assume the head spot. Hopefully it will be good for our DNR as he had been for reopening the state parks and historic sites that Blago closed in the fall. Also, hopefully he'll get rid of the DNR headman that Blago recently appointed who had no background in natural resources.

I was an Illinois resident for 43 years, so I feel qualified to comment.

There aren't enough big bucks in that State to make the amount of crap that the residents have to eat palitable.

Life is Good in Colorado..............

It does suck that one small area of our state can control the whole thing.

That's great news. Now if we could get rid of Corzine, part of my life would be complete.

I don't know much of anything about the guy except what I've seen on the tube....but, I gotta tell ya, the guy comes across as if he feels he's untouchable. Almost like he thinks he's a mafia boss or something...and the rest of the state leaders are his soldiers and required to abide by his desires.

Still at a loss as to how that arrogant, devo looking dude was ever elected. Sheesh, that dude is a whack job.

I watched the vote last night to remove him from office. I didn't know much about him until all this hit the fan about him trying to sell Obama's Senate seat. Doesn't seem like a very good guy, and I am amazed at the audacity of the man in believing that he did nothing wrong, even though the FBI has taped phone conversations.

Chicago and the collar counties and the metroeast St. Louis area elected him. the majority of the rest of the state was smart enough to not vote for him either time.
And yes, the guy has issues.

I'm a St. Louis metro IL. resident and I don't know anyone that liked or voted for him. I haven't actually checked the poll figures, but everyone I know in this area has wished him gone for a long time.

I hope things get better but unfortunately the majority of issues for the entire state of IL are decided by the people of Chicago. Nothing against my RT brothers from Chicago, but big city Chicago thinking can be a lot different than the other areas of the state.

Until the state divides into N. Illinois and S. Ilinois I'm hesitant to get too excited by the ousting of Rod (throw-him-in-a-ditch).

The Dancing Queen made the right move. Need a new neighbor JJ?

Here's the 2006 governor's race results. Obviously blue is Dem and red is Rep. From the map, it's fairly obvious where the big population centers are and how Blago was elected. And also, I didn't realize so many in the rural southern areas voted for this clown.

flyera-From my time living and going to school in the metroeast and with my in-laws living there, I knew the area was primarily Dem., but like you mentioned, I didn't know many who like/liked the guy. I'm sure everyone but a select few in our state are glad this guy is out of office.

Wow Mach, that is a shocker!

I figured Madison and St. Clair counties might go that way, but some of those other southern counties are about as rural as IL gets!

It could be that everyone was still so freaked out by the things republican G. Ryan did that the mentality was to get as far from him as possible?

I'm mostly republican at heart, but I do feel this shows that voters need to look at the individual 1st, then the party they represent.

I read in the paper yesterday that Blago took over $9 million dollars from the sales of hunting and fishing licenses(money that is supposed to go the DNR,state parks, conservation, etc.) and added it to the general fund. Now if that money is not put back where it belongs, then Illinois is going to miss out on $16 million federal dollars for the DNR.With the state in such bad financial shape, I don't see how they can come up with the $9 million.Hopefully it's not to late, and the damage can be repaired.
