Nationalizing Banks

I hear alot about the federal government nationalizing the banks. If they own our loans and unsecured debt (i know they bought toxic assets already) and we default what then? I know some folks that have owed the federal government money and it was much more painful than oweing a private institution money. Any concerns about debtors prison becoming fashionable again? What about being able to work off your debt rebuilding the infrastructure? I'm getting a queasy feeling about all this myself.

the banks are only the start. they will be owning the car companies next, and a bunch more. socialism is the take over of private business and obama very clearly told us that "only the government can save america". that was said only last month, to no real outcry from the public. we're not "bailing out" any industry. we are making a down payment on owning them.
