went out this past weekend to do a little scouting....nothings changed, the rios are still roosting in the same grove of trees they have for the past ten years-probably longer, but I have only hunted there for five years. half a month left

Well 3whunt I have heard a couple, but not on my huntin grounds. Saw three huge long beards when I was comin back to school sunday. I am hopin to get my hunt this year on film. Got a buddy of mine thats got some land here by school and it looks like it is goin to be pretty awesome.

We need to get a little crazy in here!! so what kinda calls do you all use?? Slate, mouth, box......all of the above?? What brand do you all use??

Well I use a mouth call...dont remember what kind.

I use a Lil Duce slate call

knight and hale guy here....I use the ol' yeller slate and the ol' yelper box. the few times a year I use mouth calls, it is always the Ol' Boss Hen by Quaker boy....have used that mouth call loyally for the past 15+ years. I use a haydel crow call and the hoot flute owl call....

and we are on the board....got a 21.8 lb rio yesterday at noon. 9 inch beard and 1.25 inch hooks...what a day...the temp was 37 degrees as was the wind..I can't beleive he could hear the calls. anyways, I'll get pics up in a day or two....

It is starting to come together a little bit...found gobbler droppings and tracks on the land up behind my house...have yet to see or hear him but only have been up there in them orning once. Pegged one on the state land this AM....he sounded off on the same ridge where I got my bird last year....will have to wait and see if he survives the youth season this weekend. Going to go back out tomorrow morning, probably state land, and monday morning go up behind home here before school.

Birds here in Southern Indiana are henned up. They are gobbling hard off the roost and also on the ground. Seen a few hens on the nests already. I will be heading out in mid morning after the ran passes through. Thursday will be hunting all morning all day.

Well I was at work yesterday and one of our guys got stuck across the river cuz the water was way to high to drive through or swim through so we had to come in from the back side. This is when I saw something that is just not any good. I was walking and looked about 3 feet from me and a hen busted up out of the under brush. Well I looked down to where she was bedded down and sure enough there was eggs. I am pretty sure our Conservation department messed up on setting the dates for the turkey season. Our season started last monday and they have already been hened up for over a month/month and half. So I dont know how the rest of the season is goin to be now.....

I had a king size Pope n Young bird yesterday morning, he wasn't interested in our hen decoy, fed in a cow pasture. This bird was very leggy and probably had a 12 inch beard or longer. It also was very thick. Will be set up there next morning. LAst day to hunt for me, gotta work the rest of the week. Been a tough turkey season for me. Tomorrow is the moment of truth. The bird might of went 26 pounds or more. He was a monster tom.

Might be able to go out Sunday, but with Mothers day and all, I might just have ended it today. Birds are not gobbling anymore where I hunt. Haven't heard a gobble in four days.

Congrats Randy, great bird! I'm after a bird...missed him last weekend....set-up this morning and he went with his hen...maybe third time is the charm...I dunno but I'm keeping after him! Few photos of him in the turkey room....may be my biggest bird ever if I could get him,lol

Well quick update in case you all didn't know....8 days after getting that tom on the video on my camera....I put my tag on that sneaky gobbler this past Friday...Still have to get him entered in the room...20 lbs, 9" beard, 3/4" spurs
