OK let's talk a bit..I'll start. I am 45 and been hunting turkeys since I was 12 but in reality since I was about 10 tagging along with my Dad. My Dad use to make diaphragm mouth calls from scrap aluminum and ballons when I was just little. I called my first gobbler to his gun when I was 10 using one of those calls. Today I use an assortment of mouth calls, box calls, and slates. I have taken birds in California and Pennsylvania. (only 2 states I have hunted them in). I shoot a Mossberg 935 with a Pure Gold choke and use Hevishot 3.5" 6 shot which throws a wicked pattern. I installed some Williams Slugger sites on it to dial in my pattern. I have a 13 yo son who loves to hunt turkeys too and I called in his jake that he shot last year. We are both excited for the upcoming spring season.

I snuck off yesterday morning and saw a jake, but so far that's it. I'm going to the camp saturday and see if i can get on one of the long beards that was there during deer season.

Was out this morning and saw 2 long beards with a couple hens. Hopefully my son will connect on one of these on the youth hunt.

Saw 3 jakes this afternoon.... Two running togather, and 1 came out by himself. They were gobbling like crazy at the 4 hens in the field. I'm thinking there may not be a gobbler around. With all the noise those 3 jakes were making if there was one in earshot he shoulda come running.

Got a late start this a.m. cause I had to drop the boy off at the bus stop...saw 2 deer, 2 grouse, 1 jake and heard another gobbler off in the distance. Air felt weird today...overcast and dreary.

The gobblers are giving their vocal cords a rest for the last couple of days i'm told. Hens are starting to nest, so it should be a little easier to call them ole toms.

Awesome!!! Man..... I've had my tail tucked for the last few days. Our season is over and i ain't got squat! If hens and jakes were legal i could have my limit, but i don't think we've got a gobbler in mississippi. They done killed 'em all.

Well I got my second bird....nice plump jake. I also called a nice gobbler in for my 13 year old son and be danged if he didn't connect on a double bearded bird! Weighed 16 lbs and beards were 8 1/4" & 5 3/4".
