I didn't get picked for MN lottery so I am looking at coming to South Dakota with my dad. Can anyone suggest some good places? I have been doing some research on Robert's County and was wondering if that is an adiquit place to go....
Also how does your tagging system and lottery work?

Waterfowler gal,
You still may be able to score a MN surplus taqg. There are quite a few left depending on where you want to hunt.
As far as SD goes...I've only hunted the Black Hills unit. You have to apply but the liscenses are unlimited. Not so with the prairie units where success varies based on the unit applied for. Also most of the land there is private.
Another option are the reservation out there as well. Many have excellent turkey populations.
Here's a link for more info. South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (http://www.sdgfp.info/Wildlife/hunting/BigGame/Turkey.htm)
Good Luck!

I have friends who hunt So Dak every year, both in prararie units and a couple of the reservations. You do not have to apply for the tags, they are sold over the counter on a limited basis, first come first serve..
If you are thinking about going you had better try right away, I think you may have trouble getting a lic..

Oh I forgot to mention that the application deadline for the prairie unit lottery is Feb 25.
Some of the reservations have a drawing and others are over the counter. Some also require that you hire a native guide in order to hunt there.
