I'll be hunting in Oklahoma, hopefully filling 6 tags. They may all be does, but that is something to say you filled a tag. I will keep a couple tags open for bucks, but only trophy bucks.

I am from NJ and can kill six bucks as well as a doe a day in most seasons. I am at the point in my life where a lot of deer are left walking. I hope I can contribute with a respectable buck.

I am also headed back to Kansas this fall and may well spend some time and hunt Mo.

Good luck to all my teammates! Hunt hard shoot straight!

I have officially found the buck I want to shoot. A 130" or so 10 pointer. He is a monster. I've been watching him come out in a field right behind my house. Hopefully he doesnt change his patterns by Oct.2. If he doesnt there is a very good chance I can nail him and collect mucho points for team 12. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Anyone been out scouting lookin around???? I already have my stands set for the year http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif well almost i have three more i have to put in but that property is a bit away from here and just havnt had a chance to do it yet. Im blessed in the fact that overall i have about 500 acres all to hunt. A 300 acre farm about an hour from me(cochocton Co., another little 20 acre honey hole about 2 minute drive from my house(Licking Co.) plus 80 acres in Fairfield county and oh ya Chris(tominator), OhioBucks and i got drawn for a controlled hunt about fifteen mintues from me.

All and all I can just about promise three deer (2 does, 1 buck)
the fairfield property and licking have to be my favorites last year the fairfield gave me a real mature nine pointer and i killed a doe right behind my house( the last ditch effort spot) but my buddies and i cleaned house on all the places, saw tons of good but not yet my type of bucks all over the place.

Okay done blabbin now.....i just wish it was oct 2 already, im starting to lose my mind. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I went to W.V. a few weeks ago to look around. Saw 82 deer in two evenings 2 nice bucks with spreads as wide as thier ears, a few smaller bucks and the rest does. Looks go so far! http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well my season started this morning and needless to say it didn't get off to a good start. I have to take a doe before I can get a buck tag. While watching a pair fawns and their mother crossing the road below me I had a couple deer come in from my blindside. Spooked em bigtime as I got careless with my movement. It scares heck out of you when they snort that close! http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Long way to go. Anything is possible. We'll see what happens this evening.

Good luck rb.......stick a nice plump one this evening. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I'll be out watching a P&Y 10 point and his bachelor group buddies to see if I can get them patterned by Oct. 2. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gifThere is a long story to Saturday evening's hunt. It involves a trespassing four wheeler, state police and assault charges being brought by me. It is amazing how ignorant some people in this world are. This jerk is going to pay. I will fill you in on details after this matter comes to settlement.

Imagine a hay field with two state police cars, the property security guy and his pickup, a couple guys in camo, a friendly helpful neighboring land owner and his explorer and his wife with her van, an intoxicated belligerent assailant and a yellow four wheeler that started it all.

Put into this picture an absolute big mess of deer out in the field taking it all in! As a matter of fact a big doe and a couple of her sisters and fawns came out of the woods not twenty yards from where I was writing up a police statement.

I have some serious neck pain so it may be awhile before I fill that tag. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Put one fat doe down for Team 12. 106 lb. longnose! Was feeling pretty good and decided to get out before the rains come this weekend. It was all I could do to fight the pain in my neck. She was feeding out in an open hayfield. I was on the ground in the heavy cover of a fencerow. 38 yard shot right through the lungs. She didn't go far. Got to get to bed. More later!

Go Team http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hey guys, I messed up big time. In my haste to get this doe cooled in 80 degree temps I failed to take any pictures. I went to the butcher and he had already skinned it out. I feel like a real turd.

Failed to realize that pictures are needed for verification of the kill! I have everything else that says I have. Guess I 'll have to go kill a booner buck to make up for those 5 points.

Sorry everyone! http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

my mouths shut, I actually started to get mad, but then i realised that we owe more to the animal than we do to the contest, in the future make shure you know the rules before ya hit the woods.

On another subject, i decided to get up early and do some scouting, i went out and just sat in my stand untill about 8:30 , it was pretty slow up untill then only five does came through right after first light. Started to get bored and was thinkin about getting out early and get ready for te state game, then i heard it, a little rustle, kinda like antlers on brush. I looked down the trail and there coming out of the brush was santa clause, actually two santa clauses.
There stood Two Popers not even a question the buck i shot last year scored 138, these two bucks would have beat him like a red headed step child. The first buck had a spread about 25" and was a perfect 12point, the second deer about gave me a heart attack, a 14 point with matching drop tines
http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif ive hunted this area a long time and i always see big bucks , but these guys where a hole nother ball game. I watched them for about 25 minutes before they vanished into the corn field at the end of the trail.

No more spotting for me this year, not in that area anyway(can we say rut) http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

No i havnt our season dosnt open untill october and i dont hunt when its that warm out these animals are to valuable(and my tag too expensive) to risk them spoiling
you need to relax......if you re-read my post i said that i realize we owe more to the animals than to the contest, but if you want to be frank you didnt know the rules by your own obmission

I haven't had any luck. I will keep at it though. I am getting frustrated because I haven't even seen a deer on stand!!! So many woods, no telling where they will come throught at. Not sure what to do, other than sit and then when I am tired of stitting, sit some more. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Guess that is why they call it hunting........

The first week was very slow for me. I haven't hunted as much as I usually do either. I'm going to try and pop a doe this week. I'm just patiently waiting for the rut and cooler weather before I go nuts for bucks.

ruttinbuc
10-15-2004, 10:48 AM
I am gearing up for Kansas. Three weeks and hopefully I can out do myself. That would be a trick, but who knows, anything is possible. Have hunted PA a few times and could have shot some does. Had a first light buck get past me yesterday. Wasn't a shooter though. Wasn't sure of his rack. That three points to a side can be hard to see in the deep woods early.

Hope all our deer hunting dreams come true. Go TEAM 12

FLYROD'S BUCK

Not really much of a story, but I was hunting the Elk River WMA Thanksgiving morning and when my hunting buddies started out they ran this 4pt to me. I saw him coming for about a hundred yards but when I finally got a shot he was trotting by at 15 paces! All I could see was hair in the scope LOL. It was the only buck I saw all week.I think the weather helped too because it had been warm all week till then, and when I shot him it was sleeting and about 30degrees.

Just to let you know I haven't forgot about you'all. I've passed several small 8 point deer this year so far. I shot a doe last Sunday. I'll post pics as soon as I figure it out.

Next week I go back to Kansas for a rifle hunt. There are no management restrictions on the place we are hunting so I may be able to bring some antlers home.

Bow season is open until Jan. 15th here in MO. I have some good late season spots so I'm hopeful. Good job team. I finally got to contribute.

That is fantastic silver! Good luck on your Kansas hunt. If there is ever a hunt one needs to experience, it's in Kansas! Something about that place. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Silver, you can email your pics to me if you have them. I was wondering how you did in Kansas and if anyone was still actively hunting. I went out with my muzzleloader this morning in search of that 12 pt I hope is there, lol! Had the wrong socks on and quit early. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I am still at it guys!! Not much chance of getting more points, but hey, I am trying still!! Really going after meat more than anything. Silver, you can email them to me as well. If you can't do that, pm me and I'll get you my mailing address and you can send them that way. We are in second place. We need more points!!!

I'm still huntin here in NC. Plan on going again new years weekend a few last days. If we dont get a few logs in between now and Xmas I may have the whole week off! I can only hope http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif By the way, the wife missed a decent 6pt last Friday down on our lease. He's still there so there a chance to upgrade for me!

Okay Team 12, I assume that the season is about over for everyone. I still have a few days left here. My knee is doing pretty good so I'm gonna give it one more shot this Friday and Saturday. Hopefully the weather will co-operate! http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Good luck Dave! I am still after it too. I doubt if i will top my score, but you never know. You can't shoot them from the couch! All we need are a few does from those who have not scored. Seems like a frugal request.

Well I got a 6pt New Years Day but a 2 point boost on my score isn't gonna help. We gave it a good shot anyways. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Congratulations on your 6 pt Dave! Your efforts should be commended!

I am disappointed in some on our team. A few doe would have went a long way. I'd like to congratulate all my fellow team members who signed into this thing and took it serious enough to get out there and take some nice deer. Effort should always be rewarded. Thanks guys.

Yup we made a good run at it. Unfortunately is seems some of our team has disappeared for quite a while. Oh well, thats how these contests work I guess. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I was quiet, but didn't abandon you all...my season was just terrible. In all honesty, I'm more frustrated that I won't be making venison jerky than not having an entry for the contest.

Congrats to all of you who were successful!

ahh Marky dont worry about it, we came close but no cigar. I had a great season winning a contest or not. Sadly I'm in the same boat as you mark after killing 12 deer and butchering them this year our freezer went out while in Iowa bird hunting we lost 10 deer 22 pheasents 35 quail and about 40 doves
