Answer this. Why are we messing with Iran again. Is GW trying to repeat Iraq???...but yet we have Korea flat out telling us they have/or are making nukes? Whats the deal here. GW might want to take a look at the Military situation before he makes any moves. JMO

GW is not the only one who is messing with Iran...We are not the only ones dealing with North Korea either (6 nations I believe right now including Japan and China) Iran is a state that harbours Terrorists and terrorists are a direct threat to the US.. North Korea is a more direct threat to Japan and China than to us...
This is only my opinion though.. Iran has so many sanctions against them it is not funny and we are working to inpose many more... but I would not rule out military action if needed...
I know... I get hammered with it all the time... WELL THEN MR. SMARTY.. LET'S SEND YOUR SON THERE THEN,...
Then my answer is... OK.. but I would like the opportunity first to go, but seeing as I could not, if my son needed to go, then that would be how it was... We can not sit around and be complacent when these radicals find new and more devistating means of killing Democracies... I don;t think it would be the same as I feel about going into Afghanistan and Iraq, it would be a bit different circumsatnces as far as I am concerned..why, you ask??
I felt Afghanistan was a direct response to 9/11.. I felt, although it was not stressed as much as WMD's, that Saddam and his radicals were murdering thousands upon thousands of the Iraqis with no reguard for suffering or anything.. He needed to be stopped. Just as Hitler needed to be stopped.. Iran and North Korea are different.. they are bullies upon the whole world in they flaunt nuclear power and intent as a tool to get financial and other means of support from the other countries of the world..then when they need more..they do it all over again.
This has been going on with NK for as long as this dictator has been in power. It has been on and off in Iran with the changing of the latest faction to take over the country.
This is not nor should be construed as FACT.. This is the way old Norm sees it... http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I think the biggest difference between Iran and Iraq is that the citizens of Iran as a whole are more fanatical and do not want to be "liberated". Afghanistan went fairly well, Iraq...well it is slowly getting there, Iran i think would be complete disaster. Why? 1. Your military is worn out. 2. Public suport: I really doubt there would be much of that for an invasion of Iran(either within the States or outside). 3. It would even further polarize the middle east against the west and lead to more Anti-americanism there which would in turn lead to more danger of terrorism.
What should be done...i really don't know. Obviously something, but i do not think war is the way to go.

Why do we as Citizens think we know everything about World affairs because of what we read in the papers and hear on the news?????
If we all know what our President and our Military leaders knows, I think we would be in big trouble!
I am confident that Mr. Bush among others has had to bite their lips and just shake their heads of what has been said and written the last 4 years.
We know what THEY want us to know which isn't much. In reality we know very little about a lot of things. I guess it's fun and exciting to pretend we do though. It sure puts lots of money in the Media folks pockets!

Ahh Mike...i was going to save you the time but ya beat me to it.
I dont know what to say about Iran. Bush has to know that we cant do anything right now.....we are streatched way to thin. I'm not so worried about Iran as I'am about NK, Hussain was an Insain freak....but a dumb insain freak. NK has a very very smart insain freak, there news release this week couldnt have been timed better. IMO Bush is putting his foot in his mouth right now. Kinda like a big hold'em game NK keeps trying to force the hand. We have kinda set the table for him though. First we label them in the axis of evil, along with Iraq. We go into Iraq and now Kim can claim self defense. Im not trying to get into the past but this is a problem with starting
this Pre-emptive strike stuff.
That said I think Bush is smart enough to know that we wood have a long up hill struggle in NK without a pretty good aliance.
I also think NK can be contained and strangled. He dosnt have crap for money a fight on his soil would be tough, but if you force them to come out than they can be beat.

Norm gave a pretty good answer. here is my take on N Korea. There are WAYYYYY to many countries in that area that do NOT want N Korea to possess nuclear weapons. I think that we will "use" those countries in an effort to get N Korea to "tame down" their Nuclear program. Every stinking year N Korea does SOMETHING like this in an attempt to get outside help in one form or another, almost like blackmailing the rest of the world.
Iran, I don't know what to think of them. Personally we need to finish what has been started in Afghanistan and Iraq and "rebuild" our military before even messing with them.
I agree with Gator in regards to NK! They have been pulling this crap since the Korean war, so it is nothing new. What is new is they now have the nuclear bombs. The big and I mean BIG thing is that China and Japan are really keeping a very close watch on them. China didn't always do this. In fact, China armed and helped them during the Korean war! Different time and situation now.
In regards to Iran, I really believe that Israel is going to do something about them. You must remember, the people want to get rid of the hard line religious rulers but don't dare to do anything because they will end up in prison or worse. Iran is going to be in real trouble once Iraq settles down a bit!

Just say I had a lot of coyotes killing the deer in my friends hunting area. So I was hunting coyotes on their turf and had already killed quite a few, running low on ammo, and wanted to go back to the truck and call off the rest of the evenings hunt.
I only have 2 shells left but there are still a lot of coyotes following me to the truck.
I may not be able to wipe them out if they were all to attack me at once, but I sure would be watching them closely on my way out of the woods.
This is sort of how I look at Iraq, and it's neighbor Iran.
Maybe this isn't such a good example but.................. ,,,,,popgun

N.Korea can have all the nukes they want for self defense. Cause if they cause a ruckus over there they will have China, japan, and The south to answer to. I say we just pull our Troops and Flyers out and move them into afganistan and Iraq. That is were the worlds hotspot is now, no longer korea.

OK, Horst to answer your question...YES. I can tell you first hand that we are already stretched to the limit. I don't know about the Army because they are about agillzillion times larger than us but as far as the Marines go, we are about 1 man deep in units right now. I think the people in the rear(states) are working harder than the Marines over in Iraq and Afghan right now. I mean I know when I was in Iraq, we spent more down time fooling around than going out and getting shot at. For some reason, this world wants the Marines to handle all the hotspots http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Remember what Reagan said "Some people go through an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference to this world....The Marines don't have that problem". Or this is a better one "The US doesn't need the Marine Corps, They want a Marine Corps". What I am saying is that plays a big part on our operations. They are throwing Marines in certain missions that they usually do not do because they want the mission accomplished. Hey not knocking the Army or anything but look at Falujjua(sp)...no one else could handle it so they through us in there. That type of stuff is hurting the Marine Corps mission right now. We are supposed to be deployed world wide ie MEU's and MSSG's but right now, we are confined to Iraq and it is hurting our mission. We don't need another war right now. Trust me man, our gear and personnel are so broken down right now it isin't even funny. Not enough to jepordize the mission but you know what I am getting at right?
I didn't agree with Iraq and never will. I don't care what the excuse is today that they come up with but what I do know is the real reason that we went to war with Iraq was because they said that they had WMD's. Today they are saying that they did not. There is no getting around that. Our job in Afghanistan is not even done yet. The real bad guy is out there yet. Iraq was no threat to us..maybe other countries but not to us. HOWEVER, I always supported Bush and always will and I think he is the right man for the job as far as the War on Terror goes. His administation failed him the last term. I don't blame Bush at all...I blame his administration for the false information. Bush was only acting on his intell that he received from HIS administration. I will say that I am surprised that Rumsfield is still in there http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Plain and simple(after all this blabbing) If he says we are going to Iran or Korea, than I am there. However, I think if Bush attacks Iran, it will cause a catashtrophie(sp). Not necessary from Iran but in General. I was just wonder what all yalls opinion was on this hot topic this week in the news. But hey, what the heck do I know right http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

[/ QUOTE ]
I am surprised myelf Mike. I read about 2 weeks ago that supposedly Rumsfeld submitted his resignation to Bush during the Abu Ghraib scandal and Bush would not accept it. So basically, IMHO, Rumsfeld was trying to own up to his mistakes and Bush condoned them by not accepting his resignation, thats my feelings on it anyway. Mike, remember when I first started coming in here and we basically agreed on a statement I made that " in international politics and war, there is no room for assumption and accusations." And that is just as true to me as it was back when I first typed it. Yes, it was the administration that failed him and provided the faulty intelligence, but when you are threatening invasion, there needs to be absolute, undeniable proof, and sadly, there wasn't. I believe they should all be held accountable, at least the ones responsible for selling the war. General Shinsecki warned Donald Rumsfeld that "hundreds of thousands" of troops would be needed to stabilize Iraq not the 100,000 planned, well, Shinsecki was right, our military is stretched thin and Iraq is not exactly stable is it. Shinsecki didn't stay as Army Chief of Staff much longer after that. This administration has proven over and over that they will not tolerate dissent and questioning of policies, like Bush told the world, you are either with us or with the terrorists, well, it's not much different within his administration I suspect. What does Rumsfeld know about the military, he never served, he has pushed pencils all his life, Rumsfelds problem is he thinks he knows more than the grunts and officers who are actually in the military and know whats going on and know what they are capable. " You go to war with the Army you have, not the Army you want." A completely rude, thoughtless and ignorant statement, at least now that families who have given the ultimate sacrifice by losing a son or daughter over there in Iraq will now have a handsigned letter from him expressing his condolences that their son/daughter was killed in action instead of those autopen letters he was shilling out. I think that was one of the worst things I had heard him doing, you know, it may not make up for the loss, but how do those families feel to get a letter "supposedly" from the Secretary of Defense expressing his condolences that never even crossed his desk and most likely didn't even know what it said. I have absolutely no respect for the man.

Yep, Madelyn Albright was as dumb as a fencepost, can you say anything without making yourself sound like a child, cause I am pretty sure she can take you down in a battle of wits any day. As far as people in politics being dumb, noone gets to the upper echelon of international politics by being "dumb" As far as nukes, I believe they have them, why couldn't they, even if they did hardly anyone would know cause the country is so secretive. As far as Iran, they probably have them, Russia says they are going to build the biggest, there are plenty of countries out there that were bigger threats than Saddam Hussein and Iraq, so why are we there, there are worse dictators than Hussein. Why haven't we deposed Castro yet, he's been around longer and been denying basic human rights longer than any of them. I wouldn't mind being able to get some real Cuban cigars legally.

Well, GW believed that Iraq had WMD's even though there had been no record of one being used since before 1991, plus, he believed that Iraq was pursuing the manufacture of a Nuclear weapon, which, even the Bush Admin has admitted was false, or a lie, however you want to take it. And who says it has to be tested for it to be there, what happened to the argument of a pre-emptive strike, that was the basis for going into Iraq wasn't it? We have to get them before they get us? That may work in war games, but when real people die and real bombs go off, there can be no assumption and there must be undeniable fact, unfortunately, we didn't have that, and half the world despises us now.

S;ug, I have to disagree with you on the above post a little. There were a couple of instances where a car bomb was a dud and did not go off and when the bomb squad got there they found serin powder in the caps and in the casing. They said it was enough to poison a whole city block if it would have gone off.
Now, I know it was not a stockpile and all, but I do believe it was there. It may have also been old, but when I was watching the report, they said had it ignighted, it would most likely have been lethal for some.
I am just wondering how much of this is still hidden in Iraq and abroad.

That's why the intelligence needs to be foolproof and undeniable. Just one example: your facts about the Clinton impeachment process. I think you stated that it was a fact that Clinton was not found guilty, but from everything I read and how I was to understand it, he was in fact found guilty, but was voted to be allowed to remain in office.

wmd's have indeed been found. the libs say just not enough. seems the u.n. spent 10 foolish years, and billions of dollars, looking for wmd's. what killed hundreds of thousands of iraq'es, who were found in the mass graves?
sorry, ss. no picture for you. i'm just too ugly. but, i sure can't fool you! you're on to me. but, thanks for not questioning my heritage.... lol

Im going to take you to task here. Yes WMDs where found in Iraq and we had a good reason to find them there. You complain about the worst president ever selling secrets to Korea but say nothing about the fact that a republican president handed over chemical weapons to saddam. So ya they where there. As for this comment

that is a joke I'll tell ya what killed them Hussan did, in one of his sick games. He used all the weapons we gave him on the Kurds long ago.
The whole WMD thing is a farse.....maybe we find them maybe we dont either way we are in Iraq and not leaving anytime soon so the whole argument is a bunch of BS coming from some people behind computers far away from the front line where American men and women are putting there lifes on the line every day.
To be honest I'm sick of all this stupid bickering over clinton/bush/WMDS and what not. We have much bihher things on our plate both here and abroad then which flavor of cigar clinton was smoking in the oval office!!
One more thing here steve'o you thank SS for not poking at your heritage, well when you call me and other in here Liberals it pushes on calling us un american in your usage and I'll be the first to say that if you persist with such banter it will lead down a VERY ugly road, some may be democrats or republicans but the fact that they are using this forum show we are all hunters, and we have def. weeded out the un-americans in here. We all share the love of the same things, god and country, we just differant ideas of getting there.
