So, Howard Dean is now officially the DNC Chairman.

I'm going to miss ripping on Terry McAuliffe, but certainly Howard Dean will give me plenty of opportunities.

Fear not, my liberal friends. Now instead of whining about how the GOP is whoopin' the Dems, you will be able to just say AAARRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Sorry--I couldn't resist!

I can't for the life of me figure out why they wanted Howard Dean at the head of the DNC? He doesn't have a proven track record of fund raising. He did make some waves by raising money over the Internet, but the really big bucks is corporate money and he didn't do nearly as well there. Seems to me like he's just walking around with a big bullseye painted on him. Just wait until he has another yeeeeeaaaawwww episode!

What makes you say that? Are you thinking it will be Hillary Clinton? http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

What makes me say that? Well look at the situation. Do you think Cheney is getting in? He would have a heart attack just from the excitement from the win. But seriously, Cheney wouldn't win. People are going to want a reign change in the White House. The only reason Kerry didn't win is because of what he stood for. If he would of been a little different on certain topics, I bet he would of won the eletion. BTW before you start saying anything, I voted for GW.
I don't think America is ready for a Women just yet. About the only thing I think Hillary will do is make a statement...but that would be the extent of it.

I think if the democrats are going to choose a man like Howard Dean, it's obvious the direction that they intend to head, and it's toward the center.

Did they learn nothing in the election. This will only devide the nation more sharply and pull anyone in the center to the right, costing them even more votes.

Not a very smart decision IMO

you're right, tsb. kerry could have won. most folks don't like bush. i don't like him much. he's just the best option. but, don't think coni isn't positioning herself. imagine, if you will, a turely brilliant person, a woman, and a black, all rolled into one beautiful ball. hillary would lose big time. this, by the way, is why the libs are cutting her down at every opportunity.

You know what...You might not know it but you just made a point. What if..OK..just imagine what if it came down to Hillary or Condi. I will let me personal views out of it but I think Condi would be better. I think she would blow hillary away. Don't ask why I think that because I have no idea but I just think she would win the election. Condi is about the best thing this administration has going for it right now. I love hearing her speak. I think Hillary has too many views on things like Kerry anway. I wonder what Bill would be called...the First Man http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Boy he could really have fun then...when the wifes away, the boys will play http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif But at the same time, I think Hillary has the reigns in the Dems right now. HD wouldn't get close to the election.

I welcome Howard Dean as the new leader of my party. Here's why. Howard Dean has charisma, he's exciting, how many times did Terry McAuliffe make waves in the news, heck, I barely remember hearing anything about him. Unfortunately, Howard Dean got the short end of the stick after the Iowa caucuses, all because of the scream, which, even I thought it a little strange and I believe it did hurt his chances later on in the primaries. He got caught up in the moment, he was excited, I can understand that, it just didn't work out well for him.

As far as presidential candidates, I read that Mark Warner might be tossing his hat in for 2008, time will tell. Like TSBH, I don't really think that voters have really warmed up to a woman president yet. I will tell you this, if it were between Hillary and Condi, I would go with Hillary. If it were between Hillary and Powell or McCain, I would go with the latter two.

It boggles the mind why anyone on a hunting forum would even think this, let alone say it in public.

Let's all just have a big gun burning party, why don't we.

You dont know much about Howard Dean, look at his politics and then re-write that last line. VT has some of the easiest gun laws in the country, he is a big tax and spend politician, but gun control is one thing where he would hold his own against any conservitive out there.

Aaron, in fairness...you're right. Dean is VERY good on gun rights. It will be interesting to see how the gun control nuts on the left deal with him.

You said he's a big tax and spend, but from what I recall, he's extremely fiscally conservative...am I wrong on this?

Where Dean is far left is on every social issue....that's where he loses touch with the rest of the planet.

I honestly do think that Howard Dean is better than Terry McAuliffe...because people actually know who he is. As slugshooter said, he is more animated and will definitely be interested. In all seriousness as well, I do think the Iowa escapade was overblown--but it doesn't take away from how funny it was...lol

What will damage the Democrats with Dean is this:

Howard Dean--internet campaign pioneer.
moveon.org--Far left wacko political group who was infatuated with Howard Dean.

After Kerry lost, moveon.org claimed that they owned the Democratic Party....that may hurt the Democrats more than anything else now that Dean is the DNC chair.

Maybe Hilary Clinton IS the only one that can save it....but I'll be okay with it if she can't. Look at her--she's been absolutely brilliant. On the Senate Armed Services Committee she's been advocating for the military and if she's sincere about it, she may not be as bad as I thought.

Then again, she's married to the most brilliant politician since Ronald Reagan...looks like she's using some of his old tricks...

Maybe spend was the wrong word there Mark, I just know he is real big on taxes. As few programs as Vermont has its probobly true that he is conservitive on the spending side.

I agree about what you said, Moveon.org is a joke. The Democratic party needs to seriously look at where things are headed. I have trouble beleiving anything that comes out of Hillaries mouth after watching her husband masterfuly spin everything for 8 years. It seems to be that her sudden intrest in the Military has been since the november election when the people clearly said that defense was a big thing on the minds of voters. I maybe wrong..that just may be when i took notice of her. To be honest I just dont trust her any farther than i could throw her.

the simple truth is, dean's job is a fundraiser. primary position. he also stated that the dems lost the election because they didn't get their message out. fact is, they did get their message out, and folks simply don't like it. but, they will now try even harder to get their message out. great. ignore what happened, and let history repeat itself. over and over
