Heavy woman filing suit

Did you guys here on the news about the heavy set women who was denied a flight because she was too big. Yeah, I guess now she is suing because she is saying "SHE KNOWS" she got kicked off the flight because she was black and not because she was fat.

Really does it surprise you though? I mean, it really seems to me to be very apparent that there are many out there just looking for an excuse to file a suit.

All the more reason to have caps on ALL frivolous lawsuits.

My wife and I watch that show on TV all the time. Forget what it's called, but it is about Airports and all the people who they deny boarding too. Many times, an over-weight person will be denied, not because they are fat, but because they are fat and take up two seats instead of one....and they have only booked one. To allow them to board the plane without buying two seats, would mean they would have to disallow the person who bought the seat beside them to board.
It has nothing to do with colour, as we all know.
I do feel sorry for these people though, when they get to the air-port and are informed they will have to pay for an extra seat in order to board the plane, even though it does make sense. http://www.realtree.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

When you book a flight you book a seat, not unrestricted passage. If you are so fat you need two seats you need to buy two seats. Otherwise we are all going to pay more to cover the extra cost.

As far as the black thing...what do you want to bet there was another black passenger who was allowed on, or a muslim, or other big passengers the airline didn't let on who were white. The case will be short!

I teach a course in Business Law, and I run across all kinds of lawsuits like this. Ridiculous.

Let's not just narrow it down to insurance. These lawsuits have a detrimental impact on the cost of everything.

i've sat next to fat people on a plane before. i can tell you for fact that they got more for their air fare, and i got less, because they were fat. not overweight. fat. if a person chooses to be fat, they should be charged for, and use, a second seat. instead of 1/2 of mine.

I don't really think she has a leg to stand on, airlines have been charging double fares for extremely large people for years. Now, IMO, if the flight was nearly empty and she wouldn't have been taking the last available seat on the flight, then I don't see how the airline could justify a double fare, BUT, if she was taking the last available seat on a flight, the airline should have every right to charge her double, or at the very least a little extra all for the simple fact that she is taking up 2 seats for the price of one. Since the airlines have a consistent history of charging double fares for large passengers, her racism argument will go as far as she did on the flight, nowhere.

Crazy things happen when attorneys get involved and people start scraming racism. Stuff like this happens all the time and those filing those suits do in fact some times win.

Not only are the stupid suits won with racism,but also with other things like spilling coffee on yourself or tripping over your own kid in a store. People win these suits all the time. Really makes me question the judges.
