This past weekend wasn't too bad. We were tucked away inside a cove, so the wind was never an issue, but boy was it COLD. Bow hunters in the Southern Tier will get the first crack when archery season opens Oct. 17, and they should find a healthy deer herd, according to the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
