Sometimes a guy grumps about having to drive 30 minutes to work, 50 miles to a decent mall or a Gander Mountain or 10 minutes to the nearest store for bread & milk.

Sometimes it's no big deal.

Yesterday, while we were working in the field of Christmas trees right behind the house here, my boy found a dandy 4-point shed (pic in the shed hunting forum). Found it 100 yards or less from my back door.

As we were finishing work on the patch of trees, and standing in my back yard, a mature bald eagle sailed over the ridgetop behind the house and right over top of us. Maybe 50 or 75 yards up.

I just poured myself a cup of coffee and stepped out on to the front porch a couple minutes ago. There I stand..........looking back the field 300 yards or so at a longbeard. He's standing in full strut on a morning sun-drenched strip of frosty grass gobbling every minute or so.

Does it get any better than this a little closer to the bigger towns??

I don't wanna know.
