    Default Savage 10 ML II

I finally got some range time in to prep for this hunting season. I shot my Savage ML and I am seriously impressed with this gun. I also brought along my new Knight Disk Elite and its just another BP gun in my eyes now.

The Savage can do just about anything you want. If you want to shoot black powder, pyrodex, tripple 7, it does so just fine. But the very nice thing is it shoots smokeless powder. Yep, it can duplicate the velocity of a 150 gr Pyrodex charge (2000-2100 fps)and have less recoil. When you want more power, there are some loads that can make this rifle become a fire breathing beast. My top loads were pushing a 250 gr bullet in excess of 2600 fps. These loads do push on the shoulder a bit though.

Accuracy of this gun was very good. I was able to keep mild loads (2300 fps) in the 1.25" range. I was amazed to achieve 1" groups with the heavy loads.

One thing about shooting the higher velocity loads is sabot fit. The sabot must be tight. This makes loading them harder than most ML guns. It takes some pushing of the rod to drive a tight fitting sabot to the bottom. Powerbelts are not for this gun using smokeless powder.

Its clean to shoot and does not have the nasty smell of BP or Pyrodex. When you are done shooting, put the gun away.

Overall, I am very impressed with this gun.

My 76 year-old father discovered the same thing-- when he dropped his second deer at 225 yards, that was his final convincer. Glad you are having such excellent results with yours.
