Jim, I would just to check and see if you are developing any rust anywhere. I tear mine completely down everytime I shoot it, and after my barrel is super clean I put a good supply of TC bore butter in it for storage, never had one rust.

I don't use Bore Butter/Wonder Lube...Nor do I use WD-40...I have central a/c, a dehumidifier and a moisture absorbing device in my gun cabinet...I use good old fashioned Rem Oil for my guns...Only rust so far was from a saddle mount scope rail (rookie mistake) on my 870...I quickly removed it and cleaned up the parkerized finish.
Yup...I do the same as Peter Nap also...About every six months I get bored and I go on a gun cleaning frenzy...shotguns, rifles, muzzleloaders...They all get the star treatment, cleaned up, looked over, lubed up and then put back. Of course, after a day at the range they get cleaned as soon as I get home...
