    Default figure this one out!

i shot 100grn 777 pellets and a 295 grn copperjacketed powerbelts last season and punching some nice groups in the paper! went out this morning to get a few rounds in to make sure everything is still on and i am spraying shots all over the place! same powder same pack of power belts! threw in a cheap old sabot that comes in the gun kits, dead center! why is my gun not shooting the same loads the same as last year?

It can be anything from cleanliness of the barrel to the barreled action shifting in the stock, Powder that degraded some since last year, or something else. Maybe your gun finally decided it did not like powerbelts.

What kind of gun are you shooting? I have a Black Diamond and everytime you clean it you take the barrel off of the stock by removing two screws. I used to see this happen to me every now and then. One of the things I tried that seems to help is that I'm VERY careful to replace the screws in the same order each time to minimize any variance.

You shooting out of the same bottle of 777 you had last year? If so my guess is that’s the culprit, I’ve heard 777 doesn’t age well and powder has just a little to do with how accurate a load shoots. lol

And as far a sticking a different sabot on and shooting it, I’d fire a couple of more rounds before jumping to any conclusions. Your second shoot may kill your neighbor’s dog.

I've never had a problem with Triple "7" powder being too old. I have a can of it (loose powder) over two years old and it shoots fine in my Black Diamond. About the only way "777" would become bad is if it were exposed to high temps, when stored, or dampness.

its a break open , so alls you have to do is pull the breach plug to clean it! and i can shoot good groups with the cheap sabots, just not the powerbelts.

Not all guns like Powerbelts -- AJ would be the first to tell you. It's nice when they do, but you've got to shoot whatever is most accurate out of your gun. I'd stick with the cheaper slugs or something similar.

I have an encore that hates powerbelts, throws them all around.
