I've been shooting the T/C Shockwaves for a couple of years now and recently noticed that some of the plastic sabots are longer than the others. Has anybody else noticed this? Will these group different than the shorter ones?

I think thats just padding they added cause of so many magnum loads being used now.
They are long petal sabots. The manufacturer changed the design slightly. I personally trim the length of the long sabots when I use them in my Savage. The long petals can allow the ramrod to be grabbed by the petals and may give a less than desirable bullet seat. I use a pair of toenail clippers that have the straight edges, not the curved kind. I insert the petals in until they hit the stud in the clipper. They are easily cut this way and come out just fine. I so this in my long range (200+ yard) ML so this method does not hurt the accuracy.
Thanks for this infoI am going to try sabots, and any ideas will help. I am using p.b.'s right now.
