Default How long to keep powder

I have some (a bottle) of 777 that I opened last year. It was bought the year maybe 2 years before that...maybe just a year I can't remember...when the stuff first came out. Anyways, it shot great 2 in group at 100 yards dead on.

My question is, this powder has been stored in a dark dry place, no moisture, and constant temp. How long will it stay good? Does this stuff lose some umph after awhile? Thanks, and have a good one.

No longer then youve had it I bet its fine. The key is keeping it in a place where it cant draw moisture. I wouldnt expect to get 5-years out of it but ive had cans of Pyrodex for 2-3 years and it still shoots on the money.

Again..... Dry powder = happy powder.

I have kept my pellets stored in my garage for 4 years or so, and they are fine. The humidy there isn't bad and they stay dry. I also had the same results when I used lose powder. The big things is to shoot with it before every season to check it out.

Bought I think 3 bottles of pyrodex at wal mart one year on clearance after the seasons ended, that was 4 or 5 years ago. Still have one unopened and a little left in one. Last time I shot earlier this summer it shot fine.

I buy it when Wal Mart has their clearance on it. Getting it for $4 or $5 per pound is hard to beat. I mix 4 or 5 pounds of it together as it may have come from different lots and make one blend. This way, the performance will stay consistant from start to end. Just be sure to mark the bulk jug so you can identify it.
