    Default CVA OPTIMA users

Hey everyone. Two years ago I got a CVA Optima. I zeroed it a little high at 50 yards, shooting 100 grains of powderdex pellets and a 245 gr. powerbelt bullet. It was grouping pretty good. This year I decided I wanted to zero it at 100 yards. I shot it and can not get it to group good at all. Then I decided maybe I should move up to 150 gr. of pellets. It still didn't group good. Any advice would be much appreciated (I AM SIGHTING A SCOPE)

trial and error,,,,,, hit it at 50 then go to 60,70,80,90, then 100 thats the easiest way and just move it as you go 100grains is fine,,,with 100grains in mine (optima) 50cal 295 grain areotip its dead on at 25,50,and 75 thats pretty flat shooting IMO but i havent got to shoot it at 100 but the group at 75yds yesterday was smaller than a golf ball with 3 shots....im happy with that,, also what size scope are you using?? im using a 3x9x50

We just went through this with my son's gun.His optima likes (2)50 gr 777 pellets and a 295 gr poly tip powerbelt bullet.I used a wet patch then a dry patch after every shot and I also cleaned the barrel with Hoppes bore gel before we tried to sight the gun in.I sighted in his gun a 1/2" high at 62 yards.

shot a friends gun last sunday(optima). and we shot 4 different sizes of powerbelts with no luck with any. we switched to shockwaves and it drove tacks. so just out of curiosity we switched to a hornaday, and same results as the shockwave. as a personal opinion, i think that powerbelts are far inferior to the old shockwave.
its harder to get down the barrell, bet well worth it in accuracy.

I have had the same experience with powerbelts. I have dropped them from my favorites list and have not looked back.

I have the Optima and shoot Barnes. Could not keep Powerbelts of the paper at 100 yards. Four Barnes and perfect 1" high every time.

I am curious if anyone has shot the new Powerbelt ?
I have used the .295grn bullet for 5-6 years now in my Encore. It has shot so well, I really haven't tried any others. I think I might pick up a few boxes of sabots and really see if I can improve any.
