    Default Breech Plug Help

Hi, just wondering what you guys use for breech plug grease? I have a Traditions Pursuit LT inline, I use traditions breech plug grease, but after 3 shots its real hard to get the breech plug out. So I like to know what works best for you?
    Thanks
    Joe

Permatex Anti-Sieze seems to work well enough. One tube lasts 3 lifetimes...maybe 4.

    I use Teflon Tape!!!
I can fire 20+ rounds through my rifle and it backs out with only a little bump on the ratchet handle

I've used a number of different brands of breach plug grease over the years including the Traditions brand. In my Black Diamond I've never had a problem removing it. One thing I always do is ensure that I don't over torque the plug or the nipple when I'm putting back together after cleaning.

T/C Gorilla Grease works good for me. Haven't had a froze breech plug yet. Don't overtighten the plug. Just snug it up. I've use Cleanshot, APP and 777. All with the Gorilla Grease.

What he said. Dont tighten it too much when you put it in. It doesnt need that much turning to make it tight.

Thanks for the quick help guys, My breech plug is not stuck its just hard to get out after several shots, I think I`m going to try applying more of the traditions breech plug lube and see in more is better. How much of this breech plug lube do you guys use.
    Thanks Again

Joe, a little dab-l-doya. Any grease with molybdenum disulfide will suffice. Place two small dabs the size of a small match head (and that is almost too much) at 180 degrees apart on the leading edge of the threads of the breech plug and you'll never have an issue with disassembly. As has been stated before, very, very light torque on the plug is all that is necessary.

What I do is put a dab - probably about the size of a T shot, and then I press it against the threads and rotate the plug. The plug on my Black Diamond doesn't have near the amount of threads a Traditions breach plug has, but with that amount of grease I'm able to get grease in the threads all the way around the plug. I'm careful not to get grease in the business end of the plug or in the end of the nipple. I also put grease - a VERY small amount - on the threads of my nipple. Again careful not to get it on the ends where it could foul the load and prevent ignition. Basically put everything together hand tight +. Never had to put the gun in the vice to get the plug out.
