    Default Leaving loaded between hunts??

After firing a cap in the morning and then loading a hunting load I will sometimes just take the cap out between morning and afternoon hunt. Is this O.K. to do? What about leaving loaded overnight? What about for a week? Where do you draw the line? Thanks

I have left mine loaded from the end of early ML season (mid Nov) until the start of late ML (mid Dec). The load went off normally. The key is to avoid moisture. Taking the gun inside a warm house after being in the cold woods creates condensation and can cause problems. I leave mine outside or in the locked garage and it works fine.

I once left a load in my Knight for around six months (unprimed!) after Deer season. That next Spring, I took it up to the rifle range and it fired normally. I had it loaded with 90 grains (Volume) of Pyrodex RS and a sabot .452" bullet, my normal load in the Knight.

I leave mine for a week at most. That is the length of our early ML season. I usually fill my tag before a week is up, but when I have been skunked, its been the full week. Never much problems, but like AJ said, leave it in a locked garage or porch.... unprimed.

Boil every thing disassembled in hot water till it is so hot you can't hold it in your bare hand, then pour boiling water through the barrel till it is that hot to dry every thing assemble and load.

Our season starts Saturday and ends next week. I will load mine saturday and hopefully unload it on some hair.

If that doesn't work ill fire the shot off next weekend at the end of season. Ive often left a load in for a week or more and had no problems.

Have done the same thing from the first to second season and had the gun perform as it normally does.

After 10+ years, I have never had a problem with never firing if I kept it in my garage after loading it.
Tempt. changes will affect your powder if moving back in out of your house more than anything.

Learning the hard way about temp. changes. If you don't have confidence in the powder than its time to change it.
