I have done a bit of research on this bow for my boys, and the newest ones supposedly have a draw stop on them for the shooter, however if you get one that does not, then we are not teaching proper shooting form, and the bow only has approx. 35 pound of kinetic energy, so I would apt to say no to a hunting situation.......I was actually looking into the Darton Enticer, it is a 25-45 pound bow in camo for approx. the same price, and it could be used in a hunting situation....however if money is as tight at your house as it is mine, email me what the wife and daughter need, I may have it in my garage....................................al

i've wondered that too. my 9 year old is a pretty strong little guy, and i'm quite sure he will be able to pull a legal bow back soon. i don't want to get him a bow that he can't use to hunt with if he can pull 45 lbs.

Why does not having a draw stop teach bad form? Draw to anchor the same and it does not matter. If you pull to anchor the same everytime you will have no trouble and for kids this is why you supervise them to make sure they are doing it correctly. Most bows still today to not have a draw stop, my MQ1 doesn't.

The bows have the same KE as a 35 lb recurve and I promise you it is enough for most hunting situations. I have been thinking of trying to bag a doe with a genesis and shooting it instinctive.

By the way, I have shot these bows several times and they are a blast. I am getting one for my wife and son so they can both shoot it (If they can get it away from me, lol). A whisker bisquit an old pin sight, and 2 different arrow lengths (I have about 75 old arrows I can cut) is all they need.
